Charlton away 86/87 was a terrible day
0-3 loss at selhurst park and relegation was more or less confirmed
Was a long drive home

But the pubs round there were open all day, which was a novelty in those days. It made the return journey bearable.

To make it worse, I travelled down there but got the kick off time wrong and actually missed the game.   Went to Southend for day out instead.   Don't know which was worse.

West Ham in the 6th Rnd has got to be the biggest organised mob that we have come across in a supposedly segregated end. This was aided and abetted by crooked turnstile operators and, dare I say, the OB?

Back to their old tricks last night I see.

Grimsby away in the League Cup in 1991 (I think) was like the bloody Wild West. They were jumping out from every nook and cranny, the mackerel loving bastards

Went to Grimsby f-kin horrible hovel of a place.

Any one remember Spurs 1976 only a small contingent of Villa fans but was on top.  West Ham was always horrible - I could second  guess it would not be a welcoming gaff for the quarter final.

Middlesborough not mentioned but was like running the gauntlet as was Leeds.

Away result wise would have had to have been that Blackburn game but there again a  number of this season's aways have been as  bad.
