The atmosphere was really good today from both the Holte and lower north.
At this rate we'll have the Trinity singing soon !!

Maybe not ;-)

It's been a long time since I walked away from VP  satisfied. This was more than a win. This was a statement of intent. Swansea started bossing us about in the first ten minutes just like they did last season through the entire match. However today was different. Holman stepped up and others followed and we stopped them playing and than gave them their own medicine back for the rest of the match. We missed lot of chances in the second half and I thought we may well regret that but we didn't.
There was one incident I noted in the 89th(?) minute that summed up the new attitude. Watching from high in the centre of Witton End I saw their left back trying to control a ball  near the corner flag  suddenly El Ahamadi appeared right in front of him to block his clearance and the ball went for a throw...and we were 2-0 up. Fantastic.

He put in a lot of effort, and no not everything came off today but he ran himself into the ground.

He nearly always does and also completes a lot of defending by merely tracking back and getting behind the ball.
Sometimes this work rate goes unnoticed so I’m not sure he gets the recognition he deserves.

Welcome back the Villa Park roar!
Even the Upper Trinity were singing.

We have waited a while for this haven't we, I just knew something special was going to happen when the two subs came on and the reception was so good for Benteke - we had a little bit of footbal fairytale at last with a debut goal.

Lowton struck his superbly.

The two goalkeepers made exceptional saves as well with the Guzan's in the first half giving a platform for the growing expectation of the crowd - when was the last time we cheered a goalie's name continually?

Thought we gave away some abysmal balls today but tackled back tigerishly (was if 4 yellows?) and hunted in packs to get it back - unfortunately that meant it broke to the Swansea midfield a lot.

Work in progress butgreat fun at last...

We're there any tributes or mentions of Hillsborough at the game?

No

That's a pity, sounds as though most clubs played YNWA over the p.a. or supporters chanted for Justice.

Ireland was swamped everytime he got the ball today. Swansea clearly did their homework and realised that Ireland makes us tick when we are passing the ball well.

Benteke remind you of anyone. Its like having Noel Blake as a central striker with skill!

Swansea are a very good team but in the second half we got the upper hand by sheer hard work.

Holman continues to impress.

We needed that result today to keep the points board ticking over and also the pressure of the first win doesn't begin to build,
I'm on board the Lambert revolution and have been ever since the first 30 minuets at WH, but although I have been happy with the signings and the new playing style I forget until I talk to others that we only had 1 point until today, so it's great to move up the league a bit.

The future is very bright, and that's down to the manager, to think that a couple of weeks ago posters were predicting we were nailed on for relegation if we didn't spend big on experienced players, and others were calling for the return of NCR and maybe Downing to save us from impending doom.

Just trust in Lambert, the man knows what he's doing

The big thing for me was the feelgood buzz around Villa Park...you could feel it was bubbling but obviously not winning for months and being 1 up is never a secure lead.

The roar when Benteke scored was fantastic, all the frustrations of the last 18 months spilling out.

I still think it will be a difficult season but there were some excellent individual performances....magnificent save from Guzan early on and his handling was excellent, Vlaar and Lowton were excellent in defence I thought and Holman gave the perfect industrial performance, he was everywhere.

I see Holman as very much the symbolic sign of this new era for us.
A relative unknown but what a grafter !
It's great to have players who are PROUD to wear the shirt again.

We conducted our own Minute's Silence but that's fairly routine in the Upper Trinity. We did however, consider opening a Book of Condolence but a bloody good Villa performance got in the way.
