Disagree on Vlaar I think his defensive abilities are clearly very good.

Westwood was quiet when he came on - I hardly noticed him.

Expect more of that, I imagine. He likened himself to Carrick and most of the time you don't really notice Carrick's involvement. He gets the ball, plays if off smartly then moves to receive it again. Keeps the ball and play moving and ticking over. I

Oh and I'll praise Ireland as well, didn't quite work creatively but he worked incredibly hard.

They all worked hard.  Despite the bad early results the culture of the club seems a lot better now.
There’s a togetherness as every player appears to be busting their balls for their team mates.  Holman and Ireland personify this.

He's a rock. A fast moving rock, too. That can jump really high.

True. I don't think there was a single player who didn't work hard today. This is what's going to see us through, graft. Swansea didn't know how to deal with this persistent, in-your-face, hassling Villa side. And neither will quite a few others if we can keep it up.

Lots of positives but for me the best was that extreme rarity for Villa of being 1-0 up with 10-15 minutes left and not resorting to deep defence, panic, hoofing and inviting pressure.  We kept on playing our football which is why we got the much deserved second goal.  The passing game is still a bit raw at times but it was enough to out-Swansea Swansea, and it should get better with more practice. Well done Lambert and the players.   Also great to see we now have four decent options up front and plenty of options off the bench.

I feel great about that result. All positives for me. Lambert seems to be shaping a team here, a team that believes in his and wants to play for him. All good stuff.

You know it's good when even Murphy can be complimentary about us

Set me up nicely for my trip to Southampton next week, what with them getting an absolute pasting as well!

Has muscles instead of arms. Danny Graham will have a sore back tonight too.

Also, in a funny way I'm looking forward to seeing how Dunne reacts and whether they can play together. Great to think we have Baker and Dunne as cover.

With all the stacks of cash we have pissed up the wall over the years, you give a man with a brain a pittance of money and within 3 months he turns this club around.

God Bless you Paul Lambert.  :)

I'm not sure he's had a pittance, but he has done very well.
