Fantastic win! I was worried they might peg us back but then Benteke struck. Every single player was brilliant (apart from N'Zogbia who just doesn't look good enough). Lambert is the fucking man. Set us up brilliantly, has us playing brilliantly and working hard. Couldn't be happier.

Well said Summers.

Also I think Bent's goals will come, he's looking a lot more match fit and his movement is getting back to its best.

Once he scores the flood gates will open

I thought he did well today from what I saw. Did brilliantly to set up the chance for Benteke's sitter.

By Christ, we actually look like a team. When was the last time we could say that?

We hassled and harried and didn't sit back. Played with courage. Stopped them from playing. And it paid off. Very encouraging. And most encouraging of all is the fact that - at long last - we have a proper manager again.

More of the same, please.

Wow! We were really, really good! Thoroughly deserved the win, and the second goal, and the new players look like they're really going to fit the bill. Only twenty minutes and that, but Benteke looks like he might be just what we need. Very interesting to see how he (along with Westwood, Lowton and Bennett) develop over the season.

And that's two games of watching the Villa where we have been a proper, good-to-watch team. Very promising stuff indeed from Lambert.

Great stuff.  A deserved 2-0.

There are a lot of likeable characters in that team/squad.  The players look like they’re actually pleased to be playing for Villa.
Vlaar, Guzan and Holman just seem to have that selflessness that is crucial for any team, especially one as young as ours.

Garbage performance ... should of won by 7 against this Championship League team.  Bentake was a crap signing too ... only one goal in 20 minutes? Rubbish.

Great to watch, excellent passing, movement, fighting for the ball, so proud at how we played today. Great to see Benteke get his first goal on his debut, Vlaar put in a captain's performance, Guzan made some great saves. In Lambert we trust. UTV

Blimey! An entertaining game and excellent play from us at times, non-stop pressing throughout and we look like a team. Concrete Ron's foundations must have set, he was an absolute beast.

And it's very tricky to pick a man of the match out of that lot, but seeing as it was his first turn as Captain, I'll give it to Vlaar who I thought was composed, confident and, well, concrete from start to finish.
