Claret and blue t-shirt in Republic
« on: September 12, 2012, 06:36:33 AM »
Saw this yesterday.  I vaguely recall a thread a while back about claret and blue Fred Perry tops so hope this is of interest.  Worth a mention due to the year perhaps?

I like that very much

In fact the reason why i like it is down to the fact that only a Villa fan would link the reference of colours and 1957 so it is subtle in the extreme

Almost like a masonic handshake - you could be out and about and just get a knowing glance from like minded intelligent folk where as sub humans like noses would think it was how you remembered your pin number  ;D

Like that, even more significance is that it is also my birth year, I wonder if they do a zip up version with leather elbow patches and a warm fleece lining.

Just bought one on line - £14.99 and £2.99 - although you can have it reserved in store

Why didn't the da bring one a dem back den den? That fits with about the first time I encountered the Villa and was fascinated by Dad's stories of derring do on return from my town of birth; and gaelic football went out the window.
Being 'english' I was expected to know all the rules as we played the 'foreign game' , disapproved of by the teachers, in the field behind the school.  Perfect well thought out shirt. Says it all, succintly..

Nice idea, but isn't it a bit embarrassing as well? Reminding the world that we haven't won the FA Cup for 55 years.

Nice, but I'm far too horizontally challenged to wear Republic

Saw this earlier and decided on a little retail therapy this lunchtime.  Can't tell you how much out of place I looked walking into Republic with a suit and tie on :-).

Anyway, to my eyes the blue and claret is a little lighter than shown above.  I maybe wrong though as the lighting was exceptionally bright in the shop.   But a very nice garment and will be worn for the first time on Saturday.

UTV !!!
