Villa fans back Mrs Warnock

Aston Villa WAG Laura Warnock has thanked supporters for their backing after her Twitter ordeal was revealed by the Birmingham Mail.

We told how the wife of defender Stephen Warnock was sent vicious messages by a handful of fans after she innocently asked the score during Saturday’s loss to Everton.

Laura wrote that she was “shocked” by the abuse and insisted she had not intended to wind up the supporters.

But she was in a happier mood after fans who read the story tweeted their backing.

Laura wrote: “Thanks for lovely messages of the Villa fans. Appreciate they are not all the same.”

She posted the update after one Villa follower wrote: “Sorry to hear the bad messages you had from fans. I think maybe they were frustrated at loss but still unwarranted.”

And another Twitter user wrote: “Good on you for standing up for yourself. We need more women like you. Plus, you’re beautiful.”
