I give him all my support v chelsea and intrigued to how he will cope defensively.  I dont see Bennett changing to competent defender in 6 days.

He only went and bloody did it.  Well played Joe, and in just 6 days too.

Another player who is learning all the time and I've been a big critic of his. He'll get better, but we need proper competition for him from a more experienced and complete LB. We absolutely need to keep faith with these kids because they will come good with the right support.

Ive slagged him off from day one but he did have a decent game today. Only thing is for me, you need to back them up with 10-20 games throughout the season not 2 or 3.

Still not sure about him so ill make my judgement next season...thats if we havent bought another left back.

Credit where it's due - Bennett was very solid today. Hopefully with experience he'll maintain this sort of standard more consistently.

I was very impressed today with him, Delph (probably my MOTM) and Sylla.

As I said about Delph a few months back, Bennett's biggest problem this season has been fitness.  He joined with an injury, got that vile gash to his leg after a few games and has had a couple of knocks since then so he'd never really had a run of games to find his feet and learn how to play in this league.  Since then he's had a good run in the side and has looked better and better.  A good pre-season with the squad and I think he can be just as effective as Lowton is on the right.  Both of them need to get a bit stronger and not get bullied under cross-field balls but if we can get that right and get the defensive side in general more organised there's a lot of quality there.

Very good game today.

Chelsea targeted him a lot today with little throughballs round the back of the defence and also a few high crosses but he dealt with them well.

Still would like us to pick someone like Riise up on a one year deal to keep him on his toes and to come in when his form dips.

We need competition on both sides but I think it's genuinely as competition rather than as replacements.

Excellent today. Thought he read just about everything chelsea tried, and his covering behind the centre-halves was impeccable. Always made himself available, overlapped, pushed forward, triangles, never looked panicky in possession. I recall a single misplaced pass, second half, when under little pressure. Tiny, tiny blot on a good day's work.
And have the defence been practicing headers? Good to see them all getting some distance on them.
