I agree with what you say about our young players coming through. A year ago we had hopes that Albrighton and Bannan would make the grade as top-flight players. When their weaknesses became more evident, we looked to Clark and later Gardner as our hopes for the future. After his recent displays I now think Baker looks the most promising. But I'm not wholly convinced by any of them. We certainly haven't produced a Rooney or a Rodwell - the two that you mention - for many years. Gabby has his critics but he's been a first-team regular and has played for England. Cahill has made it, but not with us. I suppose we can take credit for Barry, though he came from Brighton's youth team. It's a long time since we produced a Little or a Cowans from our own ranks.

Agreed with the bit about the players we need to sign.
Shocked at the dismal attendance! I thought 25k would be reasonable

if they got the ticket prices right there would of been 25k. Shame we missed out.

I hate that bastard. Davis, not Danny Baker, still got my ticket from the Test match his supporters ruined.

I doubt they would have got many more inside even if they lowered the prices a bit,

If you're open to suggestions for next Sunday, there's either :

Behind Bars - a tale of how a team we relegated a couple of years ago have pissed passed us in the football pecking order without spending wagon loads of cash

or

Sports Indirect - Lambert's drive to eradicate the hoof is starting to reap dividends

We wouldn't have got 10,000 more at a tenner.

Two more points about the crowd last night - there wasn't that many i) young kids with parents, nor ii) groups of annoying little twats we used to get at the cheap games.

I was talking to someone today who said her kids have hardly had a spare day during the holidays as there's been so much for them to do. I wonder if that's the reason for the lack of  i) going to a match, especially against a team they haven't heard of because they're not in the Premier League, isn't that much of a big deal. And I also wonder if the club deliberately priced ii) out of the match because they're a pain in the arse?
