Last season after 2 games Villa were in 1st place, then went on to promptly be knocked out the league cup by Bolton and eventually finish 5th from bottom. Now after 2 games, we find ourselves in last place. From this I can only conclude that we're going to batter Tranmere on our way to winning the league cup and eventually finish 5th come the end of the season

I like your thinking...

We will batter Tranmere on Tuesday by 3-4 goals, confidence will return and we will be fine. Few signings this week i hope and Newcastle better watch out.

I think we will win this but it won't be one of those convincing victories. It will be one of those scrapping, few that was close, victories that asks more quiestions than it answers.
A home cup game against a league one side can never answer any questions, if we trounce them 5-0 nobody would bat an eye lid.

That explains the uneasy feeling I have.

If we don't beat them 5 everyone will complain. Personally I don't care I'm more worried about the league

I can see Lambert playing our strongest side, as it has the benefits of regaining their confidence and the 'winning feeling'. Not to mention it will help a side that barely know each other gel together a little faster.

I hope your right. The last few years have been so terrible surely it has got to get better at some point. Hopefully as you have put it, it will be tonight.

I think we'll be lining up with the first full XI. This young / inexperienced team of ours needs to build up confidence so that next weekend they will be raring to go, rather than sitting back for 75 minutes before realising they're in a match.

--------------Guzan-----------
Lowton-Vlaar-Baker-Lichaj
---------Delph--KEA---------
Holman---------------Ireland
-------Weimann---Bent-----

When you look at that team it's really not that long ago that for quality it would have been our reserve team.

As we're unlikely to do much in the league a decent cup run is essential. I think we'll get through. The season starts tonight.

People are mardy.

Its understandable.

Since beating the Dingles in January we have one once. Shocking. Now we approach the 19th game since then, half a season, with one solitary win.

As somebody has said above, we'll win to tonight, smash the plastic Scouse oiks in fact and with an influx of players, be filled with confidence.

I hope so Ads.  I hope we smash them into next year, with goals for Bent, Weimann and Ireland to gee them all up.
