I know it shouldn't, but Liverpool losing 3-0 does cheer me up quite a lot.

And after all this, maybe it was never McLeish's fault...maybe we're just a rubbish team!!
Well, I've seen more today to give some optimism than any game last season.
The three from the Dutch league will get better through the season; Baker and Lowton haven't looked too troubled. KEA and Delph have played okay. We just need a more attacking profile.

And playing a newly-promoted team at their place would not be my choice of a first game.

If we are going to play like this, we have to get a couple of players who are more penetrative.

Am I alone in thinking Delph is playing okay.

Come on Villa, ffs. One goal will really lift our confidence and there's still time to get a second. West Ham's poor defence hasn't even been tested yet.

I hope we turn this round, if only to avoid the smugness of savage come the final whistle!

I reckon he's done very well.

More shots on target than WHU; just all from 20+ yards out.

Nope, still think he looks at his best when he's allowed to break forward.

No, I think a few of us have said that he's doing well and playing his role well enough. I'm just wondering if it's a role that gets the best out of him. I suppose as he gets better at it he'll learn when to get forward, when to hang back etc
