FT - Villa U21 0-2 Man Utd U21 - Defeat for Villa in the Barclays U21 Premier League. It means they must beat leaders Tottenham at Hinckley next week in their final game to finish top of Group 2. United were the better side after the break with goals from Bebe and Macheda enough to give them three points.

Must admit, our boys looked like boys compared to the beefed up Gloryhunting, cheating, dirty, ref protected.. everything you expect from Man Utd.

We'll need at least a draw against Spurs.

There was quite a bit of experience for this age group in their team and we had left some of our key players out because we have an FA Youth Cup game on Wednesday.

Finish top... It's only December? I'm confused.

There are 2 stages to the developmental league. Going forward the top teams from each group go into another group. I think the bottom sides go into their own group but I'm not sure on that.

From the OS

Villa and Tottenham Hotspur will battle it out to finish top of the pile in Group 2 of the Barclays U21 Premier League at Villa Park tonight.

The match is being screened live on AVTV as the two sides look to round off the first phase of the competition in style.

It is first against third in the final match before the leagues are restructured in the New Year.

Tottenham are currently in first place with Villa just two points behind in third position.

But a victory for Gordon Cowans' men would see them leapfrog the north London outfit and guarantee top spot.

Both clubs could still qualify for the Elite Stage regardless of tonight's result although they will be determined to do so with a final flourish.

If the reverse fixture at White Hart Lane is anything to go be, a cracking contest is in store.

It finished 3-3 when the teams met back in October. Jordan Bowery, Graham Burke and Samir Carruthers scored for Villa, while Tottenham's goals came from Jonathan Obika [2] and Kevin Stewart.

Watch all the action from tonight's game LIVE on AVTV from 7pm.

Ahh, brief verbal glimpses of Woodw***; perhaps there's a technical problem.
