Maybe we'll play Moscow and send the kids.

Sounds like an excellent performance. Any chance Sporting put out weaker team as they were guaranteed top spot?

Either way it's been a very good recovery from the first couple of games.

That really was a stunning result.  This team has some great individual players but has been slightly under par this season.

The formation would be very similar to the way the first team is set out but with players more comfortable playing in those positions, obviously at their own level.

Basically the two widemen Grealish and Graham are proper wingers who also carry a goal threat.
Gabby and Andy Weiman are not natural wide players and are less likely to beat a man and cross the ball.
Graham Burke is very comfortable playing behind the striker and Samir and Malky Melvin are both very competitive midfield players.

We have a serious chance in the FA Youth cup this season as well.

And this was without Johnson, who is arguably our most influential player at this level.

I would have thought Gary Gardner will be ready to start running in the next month or so too.

Isn't this a younger than usual team as well, with a lot more first years?

Certainly seemed like it at the home game against Sporting.

He said on twitter yesterday that he can start running TODAY!

No, Sporting put out their best team but on all accounts, Villa were up for it and Sporting couldn't cope.
Can't believe I forgot about this game, I'd been looking forward to it for months.

Ironically, there has been a delegation from Zenit St Petersburg at Sporting this week to look at their Academy as it's viewed as one of the best in Europe.

Has this result been mentioned in any depth by the national media? I read something where we got one line and the Liverpool game was the featured article along with Man City's exit. The fact that we just battered a very good academy side seemingly has been glossed over because we are not Arsenal, Man U or Man City it seems. I really hope the kids can do themselves proud in the knock out stages.

When he had the original injury I thought he would be running again in December. I wasn't far off.
