Villa 2-1 Sunderland - GOAL - 45 mins: Sunderland are back in it thanks to Alex Gorrin's close-range effort. Blair Adams motored down the left and got the better of Josh Barton. He crossed into the six-yard box and Gorrin was on hand to fire into the roof of the net.

Finishes 2-1.

Sunderland really came back into the game in the second half, so much so our keeper, Craig Hill, was named MotM.

The lack of any actual coaching or instructions during the game. The lack of interest shown. The use of mobile telephones for text messaging when the game is in progress. The lack of development shown by the players. The players not being told what they are doing right/wrong.

Really? I'm staggered, that's awful. I coach a local U10 side and would never act like that - and I'd assume Villa U11 coaches to have much higher standards!

Are U11 players actually signed up to Villa or are these matches effectively for scouting/talent spotting?

Signed up. The compensation payouts are unbelievable. £9000 for the U-11s before Christmas then it rises to £49,000 if they wish to move on.

The lack of coaching is poor.  Like someone else said, If you see it again the club should be told.  I'd bet even at that level the coaches are paid a salary that should demand their attention.

It's certainly counter-intuitive to what is supposed to be the best academy in the country.

I couldn't care less what they do as long as they keep producing the type of player we've seen for the past ten years and more.

I could. If they carry on with that style and approach I very much doubt if they'll produce that sort of player.

But they do, regularly and for a long time. That's what makes me wonder how credible this story is.

Oh, right. So you doubt my word based on first-hand experience? I go there near enough every Sunday and I have witnessed it on numerous occasions.

If you've seen it that's fair enough but they still seem to produce a string of quality players so they must do something right.

Perhaps there has been a change of coaching personnel at this age group in the last couple of years?
