An enjoyable evening, thanks to Dave W. and Mysteryman for getting me in gratis. Saw villajk as well, which is always a pleasure.

A productive night too: Roger Davis told my son that if he has any trouble round their end, to knock on his door and he'll sort it. If you don't know Roger, that's the Chelmsley equivalent of having an Uncle Tony Soprano.

I was going but the missus scuppered my plans for daring to do some overtime and then expecting a lft afterwards.
She owes me a pint I reckon.

The Brigada Ultras went down in my estimation of them for the Tracie Andrews song as well as a few choice other ditties, especially considering the make-up of the crowd being highly populated by very young children.

Carruthers was very good. Well taken goal. Poor second half.

Brigada 1874 didn't sing any Tracey Andrews songs, that was some chap in a hat stood about 10 yards to the right of us.

Are fans allowed in to BH to watch the U21 & U18 games ?
Or are they behind closed doors ?

Sounds like a good game.

I went on saturday to watch the academy game against Spurs at Bodymore.  The lads are playing some lovely football this season but haven't always got the results that their domination has deserved.

We put that right against Spurs with a 4-2 victory.  Jack Grealish played up front and had a sensational game scoring twice and with Daniel Crowley, running the spurs defence ragged.  Jordan Graham and Charlie Ward added the other goals.

For some reason Spurs played in the Villa away kit.  I guess someone will be in trouble for forgetting to put the kit on the bus.

Anyone know what has happened to Josh Webb, promising right-back/centre-back in last year's NextGen team?

While on the subject, add Janoi Donacien's name to the 'missing' list.

Josh Webb has been injured all season as has Lewis Kinsella who also played in the nextgen games.

Janoi played at right back for the reserves against Stoke a few weeks ago.

Callum Robinson has a knee injury which might require surgery I have been told as well.

Thanks for posting Larry. Your updates are always a welcome, good, informative read.

I'd be interested in your thoughts on the 'who should we loan out?' thread.

Villa's U21 side are looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season against Newcastle tonight - and you can watch all the action live on AVTV.

The boys in claret and blue are back in action against the Magpies at Villa Park - kick-off 7pm.

Gordon Cowans' team have provided terrific entertainment so far this term with a convincing win over Stoke City as well as high scoring draws against Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.

Now they are looking for a big performance under the Villa Park floodlights.

AVTV subscribers can tune in from 6.30pm for the best build-up to the game, including pre-match comment as well as live footage of the teams warming up.

Then sit back and watch all the action unfold with commentary from Jack Woodward.

Alternatively, you can enjoy our traditional live audio and text commentaries.

Tickets for tonight's clash are available at the ground before kick-off, priced at £2 for adults and £1 for juniors, while season ticket holders can attend for free.

HT - Villa U21 0-0 Newcastle U21 - Even first-half at Villa Park. Jordan Bowery converted a powerful volley after meeting a superb chipped ball from Samir Carruthers but the former Chesterfield striker was flagged offside. Bowery also forced Newcastle goalkeeper Jak Alnwick to push away a stinging low drive. The visitors finished the half strongly with Adam Campbell heading wide from close range.
