Martin Laursen

I just found this new Martin Laursen tribute.  Some really great memories there of a true Villa Lionheart. If only there were more professional footballers out there who were like Martin Laursen.

Legend, shame we only had him for the short period of time that we did.

I know. And to think he spent so much time on the treatment table and still is so highly regarded by us all. I always felt so confident in our team with him in the side.

He was one of the main reasons we did so well the early part of the 2008-2009 season.  I believe we were something like 3rd in the table in mid-December.  He went down, and we went into a funk for the rest of the season.

Just watched the clip, then thought back to what I witnessed this afternoon, feel a bit sad now.

I think he might be the best player I have ever seen play for Aston Villa in my 16 years of supporting us.

I'd say the same only I caught the tail end of McGrath.

I reckon, with Martin Laursen still in the side he would be enough to keep us up.

I remember seeing him for the first time and you just knew that this guy was a league above the rest and to think that he had to hold it together with Knight next to him
