In the 90's we had had Frank McAvennie on loan.He spent  most of the game (the one at Villa Park) moaning at Dwight Yorke.I remember thinking F#ck off your not a Villa player yet.

Alpay. First Villa player I never liked whilst he was at the club

Didn't he get booed after he scored? Against Charlton I think?

I thought Alpay was a great player prior to that world cup, what happened after was a shambles.

I know he lifted a cup for us, but Kevin Richardson as a Villa player always rankled with me because of the blatant handball for Everton that led to our exit from the milk cup semi in the 80's.

I never liked Alpay. I used shake my head in amazement every time he & Jlloyd started a game for us. They were both rubbish.
Heskey was just a waste of space by the time we signed him.
Les Sealey was another I just never took to.

Alpay was rubbish, really?

I didn't like him and I thought he was rubbish. That is my opinion.

I remember Baros getting booed off the pitch in what must have been his last game for the club. A 2-0 victory over Watford back in 2006.

I remember it was 0-0 with about 15 minutes to go and we were absolutely all over them, only problem was that Baros had missed about 4 one-on-one's, which lead to the Watford fans singing "you need Ashley Young". So he gets subbed off for Angel and he got some pretty nasty heat.

Being about 10 at the time I think that was the game that solidified my love of football, which is weird considering my first 'Villa hero' was Baros.

Fair enough, although I happen to disagree.

I thought J Lloyd became a scapegoat for that team and was vilified before he'd even touched a ball at times (although that MTV cribs thing did make me cringe).

That's o.k. I don't mind if you disagree.

Hassan Kachoul and Mustapha Hadji for me, came with such promise but to me didn't put any effort in.

I did get excited when Daveeeed signed, what a disappointment he turned out to be.

That said, doesn't come close to the disappointement at how Collymore turned out, I was very excited when he signed.

I remember an FA Cup replay against Portsmouth at VP in 1997 when we won 1-0 and Savo scored the winner.  Despite that he was awful and got some abuse and ran down the tunnel when he got substituted.  It might have been the aftermath of the spitting incident at Ewood Park.

. I was at Spurs a few years back when Harewood came on. We won 2-1 that game but he had a farcical cameo appearance as sub that had everyone around me pretty much laughing at him and how shit he was.

I'm sure Harewood's farsical cameo at Spurs was the 4-4 game when he gave away the penalty that got them back in the game at 4-1 down.
