I'll be there Thursday, my favourite day of the sporting calendar, round 1 of the Open. Plan is to -

- follow Els for a few holes
- find a stand behind a green on a par 3 and devour my packed lunch while watching the pin get peppered
- follow Norman for a bit (if he's there this year)
- waste twenty quid on tat in the tented village
- watch them come up the last for a couple of hours
- come home and camp out on the sofa for the next 3 days.

did Monty qualify does anybody know?

No Monty.
Reckon Westwood could finally do it this year, it's a bugger of a course and he drives straight.
Him or Donald.
If it rains and the wind gets up it could be any bugger though.

I've gone Westwood to win with Bjorn / Harrington & Justin Leonard E/W

Hope the weather is consistent for the next two days and Westwood's putter gets hot!!

disappointing day for the English. I always want the Villa fan to win but thought Westwood and Donald would do better.

Big Ern wins as Scott throws it away. Not quite a Van Der Velde but quite the collapse.

Forget "A Good Walk Spoiled", that was a good walk completely and utterly fecked up for Adam Scott

Slipped under the radar for obvious reasons but Rory McIlroy is currently 4 shots clear with 11 holes to play in the USPGA Championships.

Fair play, he won it easily.
