Super Bruce from outside the area to level it up.

When Ian Ross plays the ball upfield before our goal, a rather long haired blonde Villa player atttempts to head the ball. I don't think it's Chico as he's elsewhere. Could it be a long haired Alun Evans who previously played for Wolves and Liverpool. Anyone know ?

Yes, it's Alun Evans.

When the players mob Bruce Rioch after his goal, you can't help thinking 'what a brilliant team'.

Some things spring to mind looking at this clip:
Pitch was crap then
Some little kids always ran on the pitch when we scored
Six foot two eyes of blue Sammy Morgan's after you
Alun Evans just never settled at Villa
Bruce was God.

And Rioch looks as though someone's just run over his dog. How long was he with us after that game?

Not long. Think he was part of the Derby team that won the league in 75.

Great player though. My hero as a kid. His left foot was magic. Him and Brian - magic memories.

The thing that stands out for me is how exhausted all the players looked celebrating the goal.  Okay, they weren't as fit back then as players these days but playing on pitches like that must have sapped the life out of them.

I was at this game and I think it might also have been the emotion of it, we'd barely scored since the start of November when we were 2nd and promotion favourites only to go on a long winless run taking just 3 points from the next 9  games.

The cause of the collapse was injuries to Ray Graydon and Bruce Rioch who were far and away our best (attacking) players at the time.

I was at this game too and IIRC Bruce's equaliser was in the last minute on that mud heap of a pitch.
