Wish he would smile and speak up a bit! No need to be so dour!

Nothing wrong with that. Villa  manager needs attitude man.

Do we know how long his contract is?

3 years.

Hope he doesn't jump ship after those 3....he doesn't seem to hang around a club long.

It'd be interesting to know what MON said to him. It sounds like he encouraged him to take the job, so begs the question, why did Martin leave?

MON said to him "job wasn't big enough for me Paul but for you it's OK" .

Faulkner looked suspiciously like he was wearing eye liner, the massive girl.

Faulkner gave off many impressions.

How's his Frank Spencer?  Did he say "Oooh Betty, the cat's done a whoopsie on the bed"?

If he jumps, it'll be somewhere upward (if indeed such a place exists, I am not convinced it does), which will mean he's done a very good job here.

Yes, but I never like a mumbler. My mum would tell him to sit up straight, hold his knife and fork the right way, and project his voice. All without the ketchup bottle on the table!

What chance has an ex Norwich manager who is dour and rarely smiles got of succeeding at Villa?

Yes but everyone thought it was Roy Hodgson.

I'd hope he was planning to look abroad for players, I really hope so.

Before he left Norwich he'd targeted several foreign players but Norwich didn't have the money for them.

The way he spoke, I got the impression he already knew who he wanted, preferring to bring them in now, get all the squad working together from Day 1, have a good look at everybody and only then look to see who can go.

I hope that's true.

I always think it takes at least 2 seasons to build and mold your team, I want someone here for the long term. MON spent a good 4 seasons here and I wonder what might of happened if he stayed a little longer. I think Lambert could achieve top 6 in time and maybe a cup final or 2 thrown in the mix...but it will take longer than 3 years.

Re: Holt. I got the opposite impression. He made references to knowing which players he wanted to bring in but when questioned about Holt, he just joked about how bad his spelling was and that he hadn't given him much thought.

Yeah, right!!

If Mon was still here We'd be in a similar position, he'd run out of ideas
