Any word on backroom staff?

He kinda avoided the question. Said that he would see what we had here and avoided the direct question regarding the Norwich backrooom staff

It'd be interesting to know what MON said to him. It sounds like he encouraged him to take the job, so begs the question, why did Martin leave?

As usual, he said the right things, big club this...great fans that...play football the "right way"...

Wasn't too much to write home about really.

However, looking forward to new signings and a new season with opitmism!

MON left because his free reign was over and was now being held accountable. I can't imagine MON would have told him that Faulkner is a twat, and he doesn't trust him. Lambert is going into the job understanding where he stands and the structure of the club from day one. The structure changed for MON when it became apparent the wages were spiralling out of control and he was told to address it. I still think MON knows deep down that he had a really great job at Villa and he wishes he was still here.

I imagine he did that out of respect for the current employees at the club. He'll likely talk to Sid and KMac first but naturally will want his trusted people around him.

Basically PF said they realised there was a lot of work to do but they would provide the tools for PL to be successful. Top half of the table is the aim, money was available to 'freshen the squad' and they had already spoken about specific transfer targets.

PL said he was honoured to take the job, there was a huge fanbase who's support was needed, the club has everything going for it and the fans had to be given something to cheer. He said his aim was to play football the right way and get results. He said he had spoken to MON who had said good things about the club. He also said no decisions on bringing in any coaching staff had been taken but he knows the players he wants to bring in and the names have already been discussed with PF and RL.

I am genuinley excited. I just have a feeling it'll end in tears, like it did with MON. I hope I am proved wrong.

I thought he was surprised at just how big Villa are as a club. He will have seen all the facilities in the Trinity as he made his way to the conference. It is very impressive in there. There were the usual mentions of his previous job and this is something many people do until they have settled into new jobs. He has got the place to himself while the players are away so should be ready to go, fully comfortable in his new surroundings, when the players report back.

yep good observations Dave. It is a brilliant place to come to and as a visiting manager or player you never really appreciate how great a club it is or has been until you have a chance to digest the history. He'll get that chance now. The stadium when empty is magnificent as are the other facilities which are some of the best in Europe.

Both Faulkner and Lambert gave the impression there will be outgoings as well as people coming in. I would imagine we have, even with the FFP restrictions, a fairly large wage budget, but it is about utilising that effectively.

I thought it was clear that he wanted Holt too.

Faulkner looked suspiciously like he was wearing eye liner, the massive girl.
