I'm actually quite fond of scousers although they can really get on my tits but I love Newcastle.
I just dont share your experience of Brummies and football. I see no difference in passion when discussing the game.

Hardly the spontaneity (sp?) of the MON arrival
May all come across a bit North Korea / stage managed

nobody is going to point a gun at you and demand that you fall over crying in joy. Just go down there, show your support for the club and new manager. That's all. Let's not look too deeply into what it means. And I would certainly hope that all of those muppets who found the time to get on TV in objection to McLeish, that have now got their wish, get their arses down there.

I suppose the Voice of all Villa Supporters will be there somewhere, in the company of the same tired faces that wheel themselves out at every change of management / board.

Forgive my cynicism but... aren't we in danger of looking a bit 'Geordie'? Encouraging lots of people to hang about outside an empty stadium ready to welcome the latest messiah for the tv cameras.

Isn`t this what sets Brummies aside from Geordies and Scousers ? Liverpool and Newcastle folk are very passionate about the game whereas Birmingham folk less so? - Having lived and worked in Brum for 30+ years and now Merseyside 17+ years  there is a discernible difference between the cities in their expression of fondness for the game and their clubs.
Its generally a topic introduced into many a conversation - when I lived in Brum it was less the case.
Kinda reminds me of when Brum was going for the Olympics and most people I spoke with couldn`t care less..
I am a Brummie and proud of it - but we just don`t get too excited do we ?

Scousers and Geordies are no more passionate about the game. They're just... noisier. In both a good and bad way.

They're not 'noisier' or in any way better than us or any other set of fans - that's just the myth peddled by our lazy, 10th rate media who choose to propagate the cliche that both Geordies and Liverpool fans are somehow 'special' and more connected to their clubs

When morbidly obese Geordies take their tops off in the freezing cold it's considered a sign of passion, rather than being evidence that a small proportion of their number are learning disabled alcoholics

And when Liverpool fans blather on about their "great history", tell us that Klu Klux Kenny is a "legend" and "part of the fabric of the club", and endlessly trot out the "we're still a huge club" line, it's interpreted as evidence of their greater footballing knowledge, and enhanced, almost spiritual support, when in fact they are just being mawkishly sentimental, delusional and hopelessly out of touch with modern reality

No chance. You should know by now all Villa supporters have a six pack, not to mention a shirt.

Correct.

We are smooth
We are cool
We are Villa
And we rule

I think you misinterpreted my use of noisy, or I phrased it poorly, otherwise I agree with pretty much everything you said.

Geordies only ever want to talk about football when they are winning. The season they went down it was all quiet in the north east. They've been very noisey this season for good reason. Lets see what happens next season.

I'm off tomorrow. The season ticket may well be purchased after two season’s absence.  I may even be in the Barton's later if people are about.
