It could well be Peter Whittingham. A supposedly reliable source on Twitter has spoken to him directly and he's straight back from his holiday and into talks with Villa over a move.

Whittingham is a central midfielder nowadays.

Fair to say we'd need a pretty physical central midfielder alongside him though, Diame gone anywhere yet?

I used to quite like Peter Whittingham he looked quite bright in an average midfield 6 -7 Years ago but i dont think its a step forward now he isnt better than what we have got and he's probably in his peak right now so i hope not
