Luke Young was a very good defender in both fullback positions imo so I'd put him right up there.

Blackburn away, 4-0 win on a wednesday night, but the abiding memory is that of Wilf stopping a point blank thunderous volley from Dunn with his forehead, getting to his feet, shaking his head vigourously, and then carrying on as though nothing happened.

A throwback was Wilf, when he got it together he was as good a left back as we've had since the glory days, certainly better than Stan.

Bouma was a good defender but absolute shite once he went past the halfway line.
Not a good enough footballer to be a left back and not big enough to be a center half. Good to see that he's doing well, have to say I never thought he wouldn't come back at anywhere the level he has.

Not a chance that he was anywhere near as good as Stan at his peak.

Stan was a shite left back.

Good left sided midfielder, and good centre-half in a three, but ruthlessly exposed by anyone with pace.
