I do worry about what they're going to do, such was the sheer stupidity of the last appointment. It's only natural.
But his record of managerial appointments is one that made sense and was considered a bit of a coup at the time, one measured appointment that could have worked out and had some logic and one unmitigated disaster. So there's more chance the next appointment will be decent or better than terrible if you're going by those averages.
I also think he'll learn from his mistakes and take better advice this time. McLeish was on his bike sharpish when the season finished and he must know why he cant make a similarly bad judgement.

Despite what some think, he isn't an idiot.

I think the common understanding is that Doug identified him, and O'Neill only agreed to come when it was confirmed that Lerner would be taking over.  I also fail to see the logic in appointing somebody like Houllier who was several years past his best and in semi-retirement at the French FA.  Whichever way you dress it up, Lerner has properly appointed two managers.  The first was crap, the second was woeful.

Houllier wasn't good, but at least I can see some logic to it.  Really speaking, it was his health issues that were most concerning.

No comment on the Scottish Manager.

The mistake what Houllier did was to change things too quickly but Villa started to show real progress in the spring before he got the heart issues. I think the logic behind the Houllier was that he would manage Villa for couple years, re-tool our scouting, build a network of contacts in the europe, and bring young and promising players from the france and then let a new manager to take over the reins.

We need a 40-something with Houllier's mind.... Some didn't like what he did, or was trying to do at Villa, I did... he would have achieved if his ticker wasn't bost...

Although, at least in the hindsight it's risky to hire manager who's 60+ and has a history with bad ticker... even if he has very thorough checkup from the doctors.

Disagree.  The football was just as bad as under the Scottish Manager, and only the signing of Darren Bent stopped us going down.  I can't see any sign that he was going to turn us into Arsenal mark II.

True, Bent saved us from Championship football, as did Given with his save at Boggies. Turning points down to individuals, We have been very lucky.
