I thought he was contracted for the next 4 years?

To be honest, I still wouldn't be surprised if we ended up hiring him...

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has turned down the chance of managing Aston Villa, a spokesman for the English Premier League said on Tuesday.

"Solskjær is no longer an alternative for Aston Villa. He has said no for family reasons," Bryan Doogan said.

I think the actual quote was:

"Solskjær is no longer an alternative for Aston Villa. He has said no for £amily $easons,"

Yep, might as well lock it down! lol!

It was always going to be a long shot and I never pinned my hopes on him becoming manager as my preference has always been Lambert.  The billionaire owner threw a wobbler during this saga so to me, its clear that during the talks yesterday he was pressurised into making this decision and afford a new contract to stay there another season as they have got into the champions league.  Family reasons is a convenient excuse

Good! cant believe you all got excited at the thought of a rookie manager. What we need is someone with proven ability to come in and sort this mess out.. not a novice.

While we're changing names, may I have the -AV removed from my username?

But who??

I am not at all excited about any of the other names that have been banded about. I dont want us to go down then 'safe pair of hands route' again!

Lets hope RL and PF have used this OGS thing as a smoke screen to get someone we hadnt even thought of that can sort us out and will excite us.

Dowie? I didn't know he was interested.

He's my ITK. Can you imagine a day when he's not interested, stick £50.00 on at least.

I haven't got any money left. I've put it all on Bob Bradley. I'm beginning to regret it now.

I'll take a Big Issue off you, keep the change.

There's a lot of people who rely on some pretty crazy cloak and dagger stuff going on round here.

OK, it's a blow, but lets move on.

OGS may, or may not, live to regret this.  But I personally don't believe the 'family reasons' excuse.

I've always said Lambert was a good choice and stick by that, so i now hope we go for him.

2 things...

We ballsed that one up by not just going for it and getting an offer over in a responsible time period after eh interview... (Although Randy may not have been impressed in the meeting?)

If we offered him a role now do you think he would reject us or is this him saying what the molde board want to hear as we have.. to be fair, as a club made it really unfair on him, sending a jet to pick him up in the middle of his season, then sending him back with no offer but leaving him in limbo with backers throwing toys out of pram etc!

Think we did a really bad and unfair job in that one!

I know all this is coming from a Brian Doogan quote to a Norwegian media source. Would the main AVFC site not have updated us at this stage to concur with what Doogan said last night. This is straw clutching I know.....

If we had OGS on board, then we wouldn't be able to appoint the rogues gallery of possible suitors that are doing the rounds, McCarthy, Grayson etc.....
