I'm certain it was nothing to do with his wife. His boss has waved a load of cash under his nose and told him he can go next time.

I think that's quite plausible.

A pay increase, more money to spend on players there and a CL campaign to look forward to where - if Molde do well- he'll gain even more admirers.

I'm still clinging to the hope that he will have a Ron Atkinson-like change of mind in the next few days and take the job.

If he doesn't, then if we find out that his Uncle Fergie warned him off us because of how we treated Alex's other pet, then i will be very angry!

That's perfectly believable too.  OGS in two minds as to whether to take the job until a friendly call to Fergiescum (who always has Villa's best interests at heart, lets not forget)  clarifies things:  "Their fans are mentawists, wad.   They'll expect the weague wrapped up by March because of some trophy they won in the early 80's.  Avoid.  Spend another 12 months at home and wait for a better offer."

Sirawex can join Holloway for the dirtnap as far as I'm concerned.

But then I'd think that anyway -even if he did take leave of his senses and actually talk us up.

Another quote from Solksjaer: "A club cant confirm anything." Also said he could say more on Wednesday.

Sure Doogan was TOLD to say OGS not coming by someone above him (PF/RL?). Doesn't look good from OGS's point of view if we're briefing press without a definite yes or no from OGS himself.

Headline in the Norweigian paper TK. "Solskjær wont confirm Villa No."

This is from when he was quizzed by journos when his plane landed back in Kristiansunds last night.

The plot thickens.
where was he flying from?

This: http://www.tk.no/sporten/fotball/article6072331.ece
And the article translated in english:
Quote

Solskjær doesnt want to confirm that he has declined the Aston Villa job.

Tuesday evening it was reported that OGS no longer was in the running to become manager of AVFC. OGS doesnt want to confirm the information which came from England.

Together with Jim Solbakken and his wife Silje Lyngvær, Solskjær landed Tuesday evening at 23.45, with Aker's private jet.

He was met by several journalists.

Everyone wanted to know why he had refused the Aston Villa job.

After the dinner meeting with Røkke and Bjørn Rune Gjelsten in Oslo, it emerged that Solskjær had declined the AVFC job offer due to family reasons.

He was confronted with information passed on to both English and Norwegian media by the Aston Villa's press officer. Solskjær didnt, however confirm that he had said no to the Premier League club.

- We will talk together after training on Wednesday, said Solskjær before he hurried into his car parked at the airport beside Kvernberget.

Molde Chairman Øystein Neerland wouldnt confirm what was reported from Aston Villa. Both Molde and Ole Gunnar kept the speculation around the 39-year-old alive.

Molde is scheduled to train 10:30 at Aker Stadium on Wednesday. Thursday is the game against Tromsø.

- I think Ole Gunnar lead Molde against Tromsø, said Neerland.

- I can not comment more on this now. We have to wait. I ask you to be patient, said Neerland to future speculations.

Neither Molde, as a club or Røkke, through their company, Aker, had by 01:00 said anything about what was said at the dinner meeting in Asker.

incurring red nose's wrath  was always a risk after TSM but it's pointless shroud waving over something we've never had or lost. If OGS is off the managerial radar let's just move on. He was only one target anyway, by his own admission

HERRINGS & VIKINGS?

Move on or still cling to the hope "Nothing surprises me in football anymore" believing it could still happen?

I shall save this at the point I had it to at about 10pm last night.
Either ready to complete or as an epitaph to the internet age and the ability of a bunch of Villa fans/chancers to get completely carried away in the age of instant news, instant bullshit, instant rumour that these days we can all have access to.

By the way, if it does happen, has someone got a G and a K?

Solskjær has declined to not deny that he has not said no to refusing not to turn the job down.

Time to look elsewhere, i want a manager who is desperate to manage a great club like aston villa , not someone whos not sure about it.
