I'm disappointed Solskjaer isn't coming, I think he would have been a good manager. I can understand people disagreeing, but would like to know who they'd prefer. Some can name names, others can't.

And I always reckon that if somebody doesn't support Aston Villa, maybe a Villa messageboard isn't the place for them.

Holloway has fallen out with Oysten at Blackpool hasn't he. Good football, a lot of young players...

A little off topic, but I remember reading somewhere that he based Blackpool's attacking game on the way Swansea played under Roberto Martinez.  I think he was out of a job at the time and he went and watched Swansea train and play a number of times, and was so impressed that he tried to implement a similar style when he took over at Blackpool.

Still wouldn't want him near the club though after the disparaging remarks he made.

I'm off to Sacksville too. Everybody arguing, sniping, rattiness, disappointing news, confusion, bedwetting, cats and dogs living together...
It's all depressingly familiar.

Let's hope for some suprisingly positive news tomorrow.
At least the weather's nice.

Blimey just catching up since the disappointing news broke. I see that some bloke called Lamb something is a complete knob spouting bollocks, and as is usual - bad Villa news, the rotten wood creeks, and Nash comes out to feed. Not much change there.

I don't see too much wrong with Greg's comments. He has an opinion and voiced it.

In response to an informal chat that our board have had with OGS, prior to compiling a shortlist of candidates, internet messageboard members have worked themselves up to a frenzy and seemingly believing that the polls they were voting on were actually part of the process to select our next manager.

I cannot get disappointed in the failure to appoint a manager when in all reality we know nothing of his untested managerial abilities and the process has not got any further than informal discussions and as far as we know a shortlist has not been completed and we are in the dark as to which other managers have applied

See, this is what's pissing me off. The Villa press office confirm that OGS is no longer being considered for the job and suddenly it's a big mess and a board f*ck up. Tell you what, how about he was never offered the job in the first place and the board have decided that they prefer someone else? Wait and see what happens and who they appoint before having a big Waaaaah

To be fair to Villa fans the board have made a couple of real howlers manager wise over the past 12 months (hiring AMc then refusing to fire him as we nose dived towards relegation).

But I happen to think they are doing alright this time around. Remember its THEY who came up with OGS as a candidate not us and if this rumour is true that he has withdraw then thats hardly their fault.

Anyway I will happily throw my rotten eggs at the board if they make a bad appointment again but until they do I remain broadly supportive f the candidates being floated around.

We'll find out more tomorrow, but it seems fair enough and something I'd worried about since the rumour broke, to be honest.

OGS has only been home for a year. He'll want his kids to grow up not only Norwegian, but in Kristiansund as well, with his old club as the community club. He's only 39, and will get opportunities to manage big clubs in big leagues, not just England, because of his managerial abilities and general reputation in the game. For now, he can certainly be forgiven for wanting to stop at his boyhood club when he's taking them into the Champions' League and bringing up his kids in the land of his birth. I mean, he's hardly stuck for money, either, after eleven years at United!

No, it's a big shame for us but we move on. Without that ITK traffic controller (or whatever he is) we'd have never found out about this and never been disappointed. Solskjær would have considered the option (not offer), talked it over with his wife, decided it wasn't for him at the moment and we might have found out in five years' time. Because we knew, it feels like an opportunity missed; in reality, there's not much more we could have done, and the board deserve credit for attempting such an imaginative appointment. We move on.
