k?
How else did OGS get back to Norway so quick?

I dunno man, if only there was another way to get to Norway. If only there were other forms of transport and air travel that OGS could have used. You're right, there is no other way that OGS could have got back to Norway in good time.

I believe we had it from that guy on VT, the guy who is an air traffic controller at Birmingham airport, that Randy's plane went straight back to the US.

I find it very strange that, if we have already interview two or three candidates in the past week, OGS has been leaked everywhere, he's been seen flying to England, we know he attended talks (or chats) with his wife and his agent, he's been talking about Villa in press conferences, Molde have reacted, and the likes of Fjortoft, who may not know the full story but cannot be uninformed, has been claiming he's 100% sure it will be Solksjaer. When people say 100%, they have to sure, otherwise everyone always says 99%, to leave that little get out.

So, one candidate has been highly visible, and yet we've neither seen nor heard a single thing, other than rumour, about any of the others.

Odd.

This is what I think.

Of course it would be much more easy and private if Randy had a 'chat' with someone like Lambert, but even then the media usually pick up on things like that anyway. We all know how it went when we eventually got round to hiring Houllier as manager, who knows though, Randy might have just decided to be careful during the hiring/interviewing process this time round.

As far as we know so far Randy has talked to Solskjaer already, we don't know who else he has or hasn't talked to

If you look at it dispassionately, all we really know is that Randy flew OGS here for a chat. Not that big a deal for a billionaire. I think thetrees on VT said it'd cost about 15k.

OGS has said he hasn't been made an offer, which is probably believable, and that we've got other people to see.

Unless we were making a truly gigantic appointment, surely it is mental to imagine us choosing our new manager and appointing him without talking to other people, especially when the manager in question is so inexperienced.

To be honest, I would be both amazed and concerned if they only spoke to OGS.

Correct - and why interview Grayson (Simon, Larry or whoever), if he was indeed seen at BH? He's an unproven second-tier manager with no great likelihood of making the step up to the EPL.

You would like to think so Paulie.  I think they are probably in a stronger position to talk to other candidates with someone like OGS having been interviewed and declared an interest in the job.

I'm sure someone on another Villa site stated that OGS returned to Norway from Heathrow late Friday evening/very early Saturday morning with his wife but that his agent stayed in the UK?

I happen to think that post Norwich the decision for the board looked much simpler than it is today. Get one of Lambert, Rodgers or Martinez and the world is a better place. I don't think they could ever have imagined that getting rumbled for meeting with OGS would have had this kind of response. In my opinion, too much has been said and written for the board to ignore the strength fan opinion. All things being equal they will go for OGS because not only will he check the boxes like the other candidates, but he is the very popular choice. That will mean a lot to a board that has to build bridges with the fans as fast as possible.

Molde like any sensible club wanted it kept private, when these things come out in public it causes problems for clubs and managers- randy was a bit naive thinking he could send his plane without anyone catching onto things- probably friday was the only time they could meet but it would have been better to fund the cost of a private charter plane and therefore keep things hush hush.

Obviously other inyerviews havent taken place in public or at either bodymoor or villa park and clubs insist on secrecy- unless its a bloody fool like whelan involved.
Going public on your manager having talks with another club is ridiculous and if the manager doesnt get the job everyone is aware he wants to be at another club.

That private that they didn't tell their own owners?

But isn't Maertinez supposedly one of the key candidates? - so why has Whaelaen not been in the media shooting his mouth off?

Molde released an official statement afterwards  saying they had agreed ogs could talk to villa as long as it was kept secret, when it became public they then blew their top.

Personally, I think he was shooting his mouth off last year because he knew full well that Martinez was staying at Wigan.  Probably resigned to him leaving this time around so does not want to make himself look foolish.

But it wasn't Villa who made it public. So they're still a bunch of numpties.

Agreed monty, but randy sending his own plane was a risk that backfired, should have chartered a private jet to be safe.
