I'm sorry, but I just can't see where this kind of blind optimism is coming from.

It's not 'blind' optimism. I think most people do recognize that he hasn't achieved a whole lot as a manager and he could well end up a bit out of his depth - I certainly do. However, being a bit optimistic he at least looks like someone who can get us playing with a bit of style and hopefully do so in a way that wins football games. That's something we haven't seen at VP in quite some time and it's extremely nice for us as fans that we might have this to look forward to. Hence the optimism. It isn't blind if you realize that it can also go wrong and that such an appointment is a gamble - but if you don't put your chips down in a game of poker you never win. I applaud the board for this approach, whatever happens and you can quote me on that a year from now if you like. At least they're trying to do the right thing...

It's not blind optimism, he very clearly has a strong vision about football and plays it in the more progressive way. I'm pretty certain he would be a success, it just feels right.

Because we've had enough of managers who have just relegated their club and we've had enough of managers with a history of heart problems?

Would seem a bit silly to jump back into those particular frying pans.

Its brilliant what a you-tube video can do. If i was Mcliesh i'd be working on one now so everyone can see his "vision" about football. Shoe in for the Molde job if he does.

C'mon, Ole.  We really want you.

Actually, we really need you!  What a vision for the next season.
And the Balti pies are something else.

I haven't read through all 114 pages of this thread so I dont know if its already been mentioned.
Things have been going on so fast that I have only just realised. Bjørn Rune Gjelsten is the same guy who was involved in moving Wimbledon to Milton Keynes.
I am sure we will get our man but no doubt it will get a bit messy ( it already has) as we are basically dealing with wankers.

To be fair: Bjørn Rune Gjelsten was interviewed in studio tonight on Norwegian TV2, and he came across as very decent.

He made heroic efforts in trying to mend the wounds created and try to make everyone look a little better ("Røkke was not raging, angry ord vindictive, he is simply very sad due to the recent developments") and he finally showed proper graciousness towards OGS, pointing out that the group of leaders were taken by surprise and that of course they wanted what was best for OGS as well. Also, he admitted that the release clause does indeed exist (in case someone were still doubting).

Too many amateurish and outright stupid things have been said and done by the leaders of Molde lately, but this performance finally gave the impression of some humility and sense among them.

Fair comment but apart from Koln his track record as a manager looks very good I must say.And in a country with a decent standard of football. Upset Joe Kinnear as well so thats another ten Brownie points to his credit.

Anyway I still want Lambert  I like what he has has done with Norwich.

I hope we get OGS, but my pessimistic gene is recalling that not so long back we were getting all excited about the potential manager and we ended up with Alex. I don't blame him for accepting the job btw, hopefully all parties have learned something from the experience.

Is anyone else thinking of new username variations for IF he signs on with us.

I think it's time for a change from "John M'Zog"!

I would have preferred Ståle Solbakken to OGS. At least when I first made the comparison a couple of weeks ago. Solbakken has more experience, he's simply more proven as a manager. Counting out FC Kõln (which I don't think anyone could have made good under the circumstances) Solbakken has an excellent track record, doing much the same for Norwegian club HamKam as Lambert has done for Norwich, then making Danish club FC Copenhagen a force to be reckoned in Europe.

That said the philosophies of Solbakken and Solskjær has many similarities and I still believe the latter has greatest potential. Question is, will Villa give him enough time to come to full bloom as manager and make the team his own?

I guess we will find out!

Just don't understand the logic especially those that want to go shit or bust on an unproven manager who bought the equavilent of the Div2 League especially given how bad we are and how little we'll have to spend. We also seem to have acquired a large amount of experts on norwegian football in the last week who know exactly what he's about and are convinced his vision is right for us. I realise i'm in the minority but then thats hardly a rare occurance. Just sounds  more like hope than any basis in fact.
