Stan Collymore talking about OGS. He just said he was wrong to have tweeted about OGS having turned down the job. He said Villa haven't offered him the job and that from his "contacts" in Norway that he would seriously consider it if offered.

I see he's now apologised and confirm no offer has been rejected.

Cue the abuse ! We have had informal talks and of course we are interested but we do not want to go down a blind alley and want to interview others with similar qualities but without speaking to them how do we know if they will fit and share the same visions  . My understanding is 2 others are in the frame and OSG Has not been ruled out and certainly not been offered the job to turn it down . There has been interest where 1 decent manager has thrown his hat in the ring but not sure if he is even an option !
Villa have no issue with the mis-reporting as its helping them do what they need to do without it being public and things are going under the radar  . Villa wish that the OGS story wasn't in the public because he isn't the only candidate available and will lead all Villa fans to think he is the preferred and only  choice . He is not the only option he never was !

'I have not been offered a job at Aston Villa. We have simply met to get to know each other. They will also speak to other candidates and I do not know whats going to happen from here. So as of today I have two years left on my contract and I intend to stay'

If Sky and BBC are based on that, then they have definitely jumped the gun.

Far from ruling himself out, that's practically a declaration of interest! By saying that "so as of today..." bit, that means "while there is no offer I'm at Molde", which means "when there IS an offer, I'm leaving".

Collymore is not a proper journalist, or a proper fan. He is just a gob on legs these days

My reading of the situation seems correct then, MM. Is there a chance the Villa board will see how popular the idea of OGS was to Villa fans and perhaps go with that a bit? Especially considering how unpopular the last appointment was.

Reading some of the comments on here, i certainly feel more confident of OGS joining us. I would certainly be disappointed if he doesnt come now!!! RL needs to sort it quickly dont bother looking elsewhere now....get it done and dusted as i imagine the doubt in OGS' mind could be that we are still looking at other potential candidates. I have never felt so excited as in the last couple of days. Are AVFC aware of the fact that 80% of supporters(H&V Poll) are basically in favour and that support will be off his back for the forseeable future.

They think we might be as happy with the other candidates but well aware of how popular he is with fans ! And no I haven't a clue who they are after but can't see it being Martinez they won't take the risk . I don't think the candiates are from any of the ones mentioned but thats just me

Villa wish that the OGS story wasn't in the public

Sending a private jet to a fishing village to collect him probably wasn't the wisest idea in that case.

I'm pleased to see Ian Dowie still hasn't been ruled out though.

The BBC report very much suggest OGS is happy to honour his Molde contract which has 2 years left.
Do we know who the other 2 candidates are ?

Odds on OGS on Betfair are up and down like a whore's drawers.

I haven't had a bet in over a year, but I've backed him at 5.6 and had a bit on Lambert.

Trader's market ahoy!
