Guess it'll all be cleared up tomorrow in regards to Solskjær.

Wasn't there a suggestion (amongst plenty of other speculation) that we had sounded Di Matteo out a while back?

Maybe OGS is the contingency for Di Matteo remaining at Chelsea.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has said that he was already approached by Aston Villa on Monday.

Solskjær told Molde if he wanted to go on Wednesday and that he got the go-ahead from the club to go to Birmingham for talks with club owner Randy Lerner at Aston Villa.

Røkke was also told this by the Molde director Tarje Nordstrand Jacobsen.

When it came to Røkke's decision to withdraw [financial] support from Molde, Solskjær said that he believes this would have happened regardless of whether there was interest from Villa or not.

Sounds like I'm the only one on here not that excited by taking a chance on a unproven young coach from the Norwegian league.
Fergie loves him so that's a good omen, right?

Rokke is just using this as an excuse.  And if he is pulling the backing there is no reason to stay, except, this is OGS home town club and it does a huge amount for the community by the looks of it. Big blackmail

Now that Fergie selects all of our managers and puppeteers Randy, we can relax on that annual issue of whogonnamanage.

OGS or Bruce, Scholes with Bruce, Giggs with Bruce, Mark Hughes, David & Brooklyn Beckham, Brooklyn Beckham OBE and the next youngest one, Darren Ferguson, Danny Welbeck....

Oh sod it, I will be too old to care after that. Carrick, probably.

It could just be about Rokke pulling his funding.

Same here, if he had done wel in The Championship then fair enough, I think this is too big a jump.

Spoke to some Albion fans about Di Matteo, they wouldn't want him back, said he'd totally lost the plot by the end of his stay there. I think in all honesty he's done little at Chelsea other than revert to the tried & tested players / system that suits what they have. AVB had lost the battle against the senior pros, he's just given them the power back.

The more infighting there is at Molde the more likely that OGS will come to us.

I think Di Matteo would be a very bad decision, I think after Chelsea he would look on us like he did Olbyon.

Even if Randy did offer him the job today, he couldn't formally accept as he is still under contract to Molde.  OGS would have to tender his resignation and Molde accept it (with the usual agreement on compensation).  He would then be free to formally accept an offer from Villa.

Could well see all parties back together in Birmingham on Monday (depending on conclusion of the above) with a press conference Monday afternoon.

For Villa to have made contact on Monday, we have obviously done our homework and concluded that he is the number one target.  Surely they must have learnt something from last year about interviewing candidates under the scrutiny of the fans/media.  I cannot imagine his wife came over for a day out.

I am only speculating but I expect OGS to be our manager by 5pm Monday.

Glad to see that a few others have their doubts about Di Matteo.

it's the weekend and maybe he wants to be with his kids and flip some burgers in the warm Cleveland pollution. I'm sure his entire life isn't Villa.

The lucky bastard. Its all I can think about at the moment and I need to revise for my last exam of the year.

There's no way we'll go for him.
