Other candidates then,so why cant randy stay and interview the other candidates rather than keep flying back, my money for lambert is not blown after all, i suppose randy will return next week and we will seewho the next candidate will be - the plot thickens.

it's the weekend and maybe he wants to be with his kids and flip some burgers in the warm Cleveland pollution. I'm sure his entire life isn't Villa.

You don't send a private jet and also bring a candidate's wife along for preliminary talks.

Why not?

Just seems excessive to me and his wife coming is presumably about where they'll live and so on, which comes after we decide if we want him and he decides if he wants the job.

Surely if talks had broken down lerner would have stayed and moved to the next target, why cant he just stay in england until we have a new manager in place?

Nothing ever seems to go smoothly when we are looking for a manager- best we can hope is a statement saying a deal has been agreed for ogs to take over as manager next week , or will be be kept guessing?

you bricking it eastie?

I reckon SSN will be getting 100% viewing share Chez Eastie this weekend.

Nope paulie, start of a long 5 day stint at 5am sat morning so whatever if anything does happen in the meantime i will nit be anywhere near a tv screen i can promise you.

I want lambert and still think its a possibility but i have been impressed what ive seen of ogs in the last 24 hours and wouldnt be sad if he got the job.

You can if you are a billionaire!

Preliminary talks would be by phone wouldn't they? When a manager travels to the club it's normally to seal the deal. My guess is OGS has gone home to consider things and no doubt to consult with Uncle Fergie whilst Randy has popped home for the weekend. Tune in on Monday for the next episode (maybe)!

Solskjaer to Romsdals Budstikke: "I can confirm that I have spoken to #avfc. There were no negotiations, but an informal chat".

not when you are trying to get one of your primary targets, if not the primary target. You are about to trust this bloke with your money and your reputation which has taken a battering. You also know through research that he is settled where he is and has started a project so will need some convincing. You don't take risks and you go and see him face to face. Plus you'd have thought he has shown some interest already through Faulkner or whoever to entertain Randolph in the first place.

Seems odd, well may be getting excited over nothing then.

No negotiations but informal chat ? Clearly not the only target in that case i would presume and far from the done deal many have been saying .

MOLDE (rbnett): Ole Gunnar Solskjaer denies that he is near a deal to become manager of Aston Villa.

- I can confirm that I have spoken to Aston Villa. There were no negotiations, but first an informal chat. They also have other candidates they want to talk to, says Solskjaer to Romsdals Budstikke.

He traveled to England in Aston Villa's private jet Friday morning, with his advisor Jim Solbakken.

- I wanted to show respect for one of the big clubs in the Premier League by meeting their questions about the initial call, says Solskjaer.

He was a Friday afternoon back in Norway and will lead Molde team in Sunday's league game away against Sandnes Ulf.

- I am the manager of the MFK and have only had a casual conversation. There will be fighting preparatory training in Molde on Saturday and Sunday game normally, says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

What I am now thinking. Hopefully it's just caution rather than a sign of rejection.

This is what is irritating. Can't they just arrange an interview day or days to see all interested parties all in one week, rather than getting all excited about one candidate who then just blows us out?
