Remember Hodgson took the England job and finished the season with WBA ,could be the same kind of deal

I'm hoping that Randy going back means it's a done deal OGS will take charge of his last game at the weekend and then come back and sign on the dotted line on Monday

I hope he signs on the dotted line today and an agreement is reached that he take on the job on 28 May.

Me and Chico against the World so far!
I'm with you. It's fucking ridiculous.

Why?

Only because I would lose the bet that I have put on.
I have now warmed to the idea of Solskjaer becoming our manager, especially having researched things a bit.

I cant see Randy going back to US if we have'nt got our man. Either we have signed him, but he is managing Molde til mid season break, or he has turned us down and Randy's jet has taken him home and Randy is still here looking at next target.

Surely if talks had broken down lerner would have stayed and moved to the next target, why cant he just stay in england until we have a new manager in place?

Nothing ever seems to go smoothly when we are looking for a manager- best we can hope is a statement saying a deal has been agreed for ogs to take over as manager next week , or will be be kept guessing?

5 days ago AM was still preparing the team for the Norwich game. Even id OGS doesn't sign, things couldn't have moved much smoother or faster.

The sad truth about Villa is that our treatment of our last three managers has been awful.

What utter, utter bollocks.

MON was almost treated like a deity, even well into his final season where mere criticism of some aspects of his tactics and team selection had his more devoted followers up in arms.

The gloss had worn off somewhat, as his more obvious shortcomings came to the fore post 2009.  But I'd say the vast majority wanted him to continue for at least one more season.  Popularity wise, he trumped even the likes of BFR and Sir Brian -despite ultimately achieving far less than they had delivered.

For all the tripe vomited out about Big Eck never being accepted by Villa fans, once the initial horror of the appointment had subsided, most were prepared to give him a chance.  He responded to that by delivering seven  wins and the type of abject surrender football you wouldn't even believe possible in competitive sport.

The only one who I might have a degree of sympathy with is Houllier - I thought the stick he got at the Wolves match was beyond the pale.  But with his references to his past love, his air of detachment and his penchant for foot in mouth,  he made himself very difficult to like.   It's also worth bearing in mind that when we lost to Wolves at VP we were something like 6 points off the bottom of the table.  Heading into mid March.  Unacceptable, bearing in mind that side had been tipped as potential outsiders for the title by the likes of Ferguson and Wenger in July/Aug 2010. And had been strengthened by the purchase of Bent for £18-24 million in Jan 2011.   We were never realistically going to be fighting it out with Man U and Arsenal, I think most of us accepted that.   Even top 4 was most likely beyond us. But we shouldn't have been anywhere near the arse end of the table.

Probably see it out until their half season. Makes sense.

Right I'm nervous now, I'm hoping the deal has been completed. It would be odd for Randy to go back to the US if we haven't sorted the manager.

I agree.  RL seems to have found his marbles again.  Fair play to him.

Just to update there is some misinformation going around that OGS has departed on Mr Lerner's jet, back to Norway.
This information may have been fed to at least one Sky reporter.

Mr.Lerner's jet has gone back to the U.S., with him on board. If OGS is going back it is a fairly long winded and arduous trip with SAS via Copenhagen and Oslo. If he does this, then he will likely take tomorrow morning's Copenhagen flight out of BHX, or go to Oslo from Heathrow.

That was from thetrees. So, yeah, something is up right now, I guess.

Maybe Randy has gone back, because the deal is essentially sorted and Faulkner just needs to complete the formalities.

You would have thought that Paul Faulkner would wine and dine him tonight.

Here's a clip of Ole telling his players to "fucking SHOOT!"

I wonder what he'd have made of Heskey.

He even speaks like a Manc. Sort of like Hitz picking up the Brummie accent - which I thought was bloody great.

Or perhaps osmeone has made a 1minute phone call and sorted another charter for him.
