The thing is this is a brilliant opportunity for him, we're a big club that is pretty much on its knees. If he can rebuild the club and get us back in a good position his stock will be massively high.

I can honestly say I have no idea if this is a good choice or not.

Even lambert's a bit of a gamble, after just one season in the prem.

I didn't realise he's 39.

I just had the image of a lad with choirboy looks telling Collins and Dunne to pull their fingers out. Only for them to give him a wedgey and tell him feck off. They have gotta respect him after what he's achieved in the game ( I hope).

The only manager who had a problem with Dunne was Houllier.Erikkson,Royle,Keegan,McCarthy and big Feck all spoke highly of him. Houllier is an odious turd I reckon even Cliff Richard would want to give him a dry one.

Maybe Houllier was the only one in that list that expected Dunne to adopt a professional approach what he is paid (vast sums) to do.

I think there would be a fair chance that there would be a similar clash with Solksjaer if his (OLS') reputation is anything to go by.

It's one of the reasons I feel optimistic about his possible appointment, there is a whole raft of non-winners in the squad that need to be shown the door.

The good news for whomever gets the job  is that said list is a lot shorter than is was two years ago.

Villa are doing all they can to get him. Sending a private jet over to pick him up and bring him to an interview, that's rather classy actually.

Blues would've sent him 50p in the post to go towards a ryanair flight.

From what I can gather the only possible stumbling block is his family being settled in Norway. I believe the job's his if he wants it.

This is going to sound harsh and I don't want it to be BUT if he is serious about his career in management then he must overcome this. If he wants to be a top manager he cannot stay in Norway for 5 years until his kids grow up. Plus he owns a house in Cheshire.

Instead of working I have watched the mini documentary about him from Manutv on youtube.  Having watched it I think the guy could be a great fit for us. Thats if he wants to come to us.

Hopefully his wife will be willing to help convince the kids they'd have a swell time in England. Hell, those kids probably speak better English than we do already!
