I swear non-Villa fans know fuck all about our club. Maybe it's just because they don't pay attention, because we're not interesting enough.

I agree Damon, since Liverpool sacked KKK you would think they are the only team without a Manager. Nothing about Villa all about who the Redscouse might employ.

Having said that, we were just mentioned in passing on BBC Sports news. Albion aren't even being mentioned anywhere

Who are Albion??

If I was on that plane I'd make sure I was just finishing a big shit as we flew over the DW stadium enroute to BHX hitting flush at just the right time to drop a big hot steaming number 2 in the Wigan centre circle, have that Whelan.

I'd have spent the previous fortnight eating a diet of pickled eggs and Guinness and would crap spray the whole ground.

BREAKING NEWS: Aston Villa talks with Solskjær confirmed by Molde
The former Manchester United striker is one of the names in the running to replace Alex McLeish at the helm of the underachieving Birmingham-based outfit
18 May 2012 10:25:00

Molde boss and former Manchester United player Ole Gunnar Solskjær is to jet into Birmingham to meet with Aston Villa owner Randy Lerner over the prospect of taking over the club's vacant managerial position.

The 39 year-old is believed to have been flown over in Lerner's own private plane to meet this morning and he is now the frontrunner to succeed Alex McLeish as boss.

The Norwegian club released a statement via the club's official website: "Molde Football Club is aware of interest and contact from Aston Villa, and is aware that Aston Villa and Ole Gunnar Solskjær are talking together."

Have just read this:

It is claimed Molde have confirmed Villa’s interest in Solskjaer, who is reportedly not at Molde’s training ground today despite an away game at Sandnes Ulf on Sunday.

Former Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Barnsley striker Jan Aage Fjortoft, now a television presenter, tweeted: “Molde confirms Aston Villa interest for Solskjær. Ready to negotiate.”

Fjortoft has also confirmed Lerner’s jet departed Kristiansund today, adding: “Employees at the airport saying Ole Gunnar AND his wife were on board. Seems like Elvis has left the building.”

'OGS and his wife' - if that's true then things are at an advanced stage, I would say.

From what I can gather the only possible stumbling block is his family being settled in Norway. I believe the job's his if he wants it.

Don't know why but the more this may become a reality the more I like it.

Villa are doing all they can to get him. Sending a private jet over to pick him up and bring him to an interview, that's rather classy actually.

Sky Sources: Liverpool plan to speak to as many as 12 candidates to replace Kenny Dalglish. #SSN

12 candidates. Are they after a jury? Might make the fans feel more at home.

wow sky sports ticker say rodgers has rejected the chance to speak to liverpool

see people its not as cut and dried as it may seem to pull a manager from a small club, us with wigan last season, liverpool with swansea this

I'm not too surprised by this.  Liverpool could prove to be as big a madhouse as Villa over the coming seasons and any wise, sensible young manager would do well to think things through before blindly accepting such a challenge.  The thing is with Liverpool, Henry is worth less than Randy, I'm not sure how they are going to fund the huge rebuilding job they require.

As I've said before, they remind me of us, they've gone all out for top four and if they don't achieve it soon enough they will have to start cutting back sharpish. They're possibly where we were at twelve to twenty-four months ago.  The thing about Liverpool's Yanks is that, like Randy, there seems to be no firm philosophy underpinning their plans.  Cost-cutting plus this lurching from one manager to another will create instability and a fall down the table.  Here's hoping any way.  (My big fear is that they will eventually sell up to the oil men should it all go tits up.)

Just in case you didn't know, Dave Whelan thinks Roberto Martinez is nailed on for a top, top job at some point. Dave Whelan can confirm that Liverpool have contacted him about Roberto Martinez. Dave Whelan can confirm that Villa contacted him last year about Martinez. Dave Whelan can confirm that he didn't think last year was the right time for Roberto Martinez. Dave Whelan believes Villa are a big club. Dave Whelan believes Liverpool are a big big club. Dave Whelan can confirm that Villa have not contacted him about Roberto Martinez so far this time around. Dave Whelan guarantees that if Villa do contact him as soon as the phone call ends he will call SKY Sports News (speed dial) and officially inform the world personally.
