Come on Greggers, when was the last time you actually had a good word to say about the club you say you support?

Anyway, who do you want as manager?

Well i  was pretty solid behind GH, tried to stick with Mcleish even if the heart wasn't in it. More than most on here in both cases. I'm critical of the Lerner and Faulkner but then they are not the club.

as for who i want as manager goes none of the candidates are particulary enticing but i'm realistic enough not to expect a top name. Personally i want someone who given how close we went to relegation, will steady the ship and isn't a huge gamble. OSG for all his possible potential is a total leap of faith

So Greg. No one mentioned so far is good enough and yet you know we won't get a top name manager so it has to be someone up and coming or a Curbishley type.
They must come from abroad and be able to steady the ship. Despite the fact that if they come from abroad they will have little or no experience of being in the English game. Unless like OGS they played here for years. And they must be cheap.

Have I missed anything?

Would be happy with Solskjaer. It's a change from the usual round of the same bloody faces. He's a Scandi so hopefully we'd have a headstart on finding the solid players that come from that part of the world. He's seen the highs and lows of football. And the crack about there's no such thing as a great save, just a poor shot screams quality. It says he has high standards and a level of insight many times higher than most managers. Even if it was tongue in cheek, it has touch of the Clough about it.

Bloody brilliant choice. Out of the box, young, plays good football, adds a bit of excitement to the club again. I hope we get him.

A yes from me.

Lambert is my first choice and still is, but something about going with OGS intrigues and excites me.
That's pretty much where I am as well.

Me too. Although after today Lambert appears a bit dull. Nah, I'd be happy with either.

The unpredictability is one of many things I am looking forward to. A bit like Houllier would have done, he'll look at technical ability first in a player and will utilise the entire globe in scouting as opposed to just an RAC road map for the UK.

Very much a yes from me.   We need to be bold, we need to shake ourselves out of the post O'Neill torpor of navel gazing and we need inspiration both on and off the field.   If he fails, and I do not think he will, it will be an honourable effort to raise the game at Villa Park unlike the failures of past managers to deliver respectable mediocrity.   If he comes I applaud the owner and the board for their courage.

Everything else apart our best hopes are the core of promising young players we have and there is a far better chance, as they seek to prove themselves, of bonding with a young manager trying to do the same.   Plus he is scandinavian, happily married to a Villa fan, a family man and devoid of baggage.   I shall be very disappointed if we do not get him.

one million percent yes. exactly the unexpected left field choice we need to shake things up. no pre conceptions no baggage no PL experience,  young vibrant guy with an impeccable pedigree as a player and early signs of managerial excellence. So much more exciting than the vast majority of usual suspects.

Absolutely yes! A fresh, young guy with some new ideas....Houllier and Mcleish were so drab and uninspiring. Fuck them both. I would be really happy with Solskjaer...why not.

I wouldn't say now is the time to take such a risk.Winning Scottish football titles was derided last year when AM came-OGS has so far won 1 title in Norway.

I'd be right behind him, but after the last 2 years I'd prefer Lambert

Whatever you say about him, he's a winner. We need a winner and a winning mentality rather than the meek, defeatest and almost apologetic state we've worked ourself into.

If I might, I would wish to suggest that we all take a deep breath. Nothing is set in stone, there is no deal done as of now. This is all about increasing options and trying to find the best fit for the club, be it OGS, Risso, or Dave Woodhall! There is a desire to get a manager in as expedient a way as possible, but I would say that it would be wise at this juncture not to become too committed to any one name.

The first Villa manager who I can really remember the entire playing career of. Well, atleast his time in England.

Very excited.
