Yes, 110% yes.
Why not? Even McLeish couldn't relegate us so we'll be okay whatever happens, and we just might be employing one of the up and coming stars of football management. Okay so when he gets us into the top four he'll be straight off up the M6 but fuck it, it'll be a ride.

Fergie would be a hard act to follow. He might fancy making his own history.

Unless Solksjaer wins the league with us he's got no chance of the ManU job. and we couldn't get near it throwing millions at it so on the pittance we give our managers now, he hasn't got a chance in hell of the ManU job however much he wants it. He must know that

He's going to need at least a month to come to terms with the departure of the ginger Mourinho for starters.

It's a yes from me.

The club's statement fits him exactly.  So much so that it was probably written about him.  If this happens, I should imagine it was set up before the Norwich match and could explain why Faulkner disappeared for a week.

For those worried that he will use us as a stepping stone i say who doesn't, whether its a manager or a player if Man City or United come along and offer to double your wages with the added attraction of winning things they will be off.
If Sol is the one then Randy better back him with a decent war chest to give him half a chance otherwise he may well have gone for fat sam.

I'm not sure I'm ready for a manager who is younger than I am but I said the same about the current Doctor Who.

To begin with I was very much underwealmed, but the more I think about it the more I think we should give him a shot. Yes, it's a gamble, but it might just pay off. He'll also probably be far cheaper than a Lambert or a Martinez.

Was he still in charge of the United reserves when they beat our lads 4-3(?) in the final last year I think it was? Either way he'll know plenty about Bannan, Albrighton, Clark and maybe a couple of the other younger lads breaking through.

Strikes me that "we'd better not employ such and such a manager in case he gets really good and leaves" is about as small time and short sighted as it gets.

Indeed, cannot believe the number of people that are worried by his association with another club and the possibility that he will leave Villa. It's all part of the game, managers and players no longer spend their entire careers at the same club. If he's appointed and we play Man U I'd expect him to say" had a great time there, the club means a lot to me but I'm Villa manager now and I'm aiming to win ad many games as possible, starting with this one". Let's get behind him and give him some encouragement after all he's not McLeish.

I'd rather take a punt on someone like OGS who may go on to be managerial great rather than sign one of the usual steady eddies who you know aren't (or never will be).

He's 39 and never had a big job.  Even if he does really well he's got to be at least ten years off getting the Man U job.

Indeed, should no English club ever take a punt on him in case manure are ever interested? And he'll have to have done a damn good job at B6 for manure to be remotely interested in him.
