There were posters on here (funnily enough not posting much at the moment) who wanted us down just so they could say "told you so".
Who? No Villa fan would ever want to see us relegated.

Even the ones who said they wanted it?
Yes there were some and that is strange as I do not want the Villa to lose a game let alone get relegated  for some perceived "greater good".
However having said that the miserable stats and our position in the table is  very close to "I told you so"  party stance.

That which does not destroy us makes us stronger.

That which does not destroy us makes us stronger.

Not true in football terms. History shows that teams  that per annually struggle do end up "destroying" themselves. Wolves, Blackburn and Bolton have struggled season after season and this year their stay in PL will end. We have now had 2 years of  skirmishing with relegation. Unless we make some very drastic changes to get away from bottom of PL we will struggle again next year.  If our input is same again next season the output will be similar or worse.

Hopefully the big positive will be we will start next season with paul Lambert in charge.  Gaps need to be filled below with good astute signings:

                                                                                              Given

                                                     Lichaj        ?????               Collins                  ?????

                                                 N' Zogbia                Herd                ??????               Ireland

                                                                      ????                                   Bent

Are we going for a "Red arrows" formation next season?

I got to meet a hero yesterday after the game, Sid Cowans in The Adventurers. I probably shouldn't have kept kissing him but I was rather drunk.

Singing the 12 days of Christmas song with 3 of the players in the song joining in. Ken McNaught with his hand in the air singing "five Ken McNaughts" will be etched in my memory forever, great day.

Positives:

Clark, Herd and Weimann have taken their chance really well.
Lichaj, Baker and Gardner have shown enough to think they'll do the same over the next year.
Ireland looks like he may be capable of being the palyer we thought we were getting.

I can't think of any others, I refuse to consider staying up as a positive seeing as we should never have been in danger of going down.

There's been a lot more "togetherness" in the squad than under the previous two managers.

I'm not sure that's a positive, it just means Mcleish is pandering to the individuals who have been disruptive in the past.

Hopefully we'll be able to celebrate the end of Heskey as a Villa player soon.  I've got the long table and bunting for a street party when that happens.

I've already got it down in my Google Calendar as "Heskey Day".

It’s hard to not to merely echo the previous comments, but here goes anyway:

1.  The emergence of the youth.  My order, Herd, Clark, Baker, Licaj (It’s noticeable that the “flair” players are the ones who have done less well under McLeish).
2.  4 squad players cost anywhere between 5m and 20m depending on who does the shopping so that has to be a positive.
3.  A theory has developed where Ferguson will hang on to his youth players for longer than their talent deserves because the players are integrated into the squad and know the ethos which means their value (to the club) is even greater than their market value.  See Nozogbia for an example of a player who moves and struggles to repeat his previous form.
4.  One season further into the cost cutting which hopefully will give us more freedom to build a new squad.  With the young players that can be trusted (Herd etc) we can hopefully focus our purchases into fewer but better players.

Positives - Just seen a flurry of "tweets" from Villa "insider" saying it's all done and dusted already and he's going at the end of the season. Load of bollox I know but I choose to believe them...it helps my mood  :D
