Thought we did okay for an hour, then they went down to 10 men and Heskey & Hutton went off and we were woeful. If those 2 are the difference between been half decent and woeful we really are in trouble.

Some positives- Shay only had one significant save to make, Bale and Lennon were kept reasonably quiet, Modric did most of his work in ineffectual areas, for all their possession Spurs did not create too many chances and the myth that it is easier to play against 10 men was exposed once again. At least the majority of the Villa players looked as if they cared.

yes totally agree,
when your watching from a high position ( upper holte] it is even more noticable how truly shit we are at any sort of movement of the ball,
even when a Villa player is in possession there is no one even making a run towards him looking for a pass, i mean its unbelievably basic but it just doesnt happen, Ireland is the only one who seems to get it, and it doesnt work if your on your own

^^^ yep it was vital if we were to get a result today to keep their wingers quiet and not let them counter attack so freely which destroyed Bolton mid week.

This is my biggest irritation with Villa and i'm like an annoying broken record over it, its the reason why we always struggle against 10 men as we don't have the movement when they go tight at the back and in midfield, Ireland is a clever player but needs players around him on the same level. First things first we need Clark at the back, his calmness on the ball would mean we don't keep hoofing it every time we get the ball at the back and giving the opposition the ball back. Ireland, N'zog, Bent and Weimann actually have good movement in our squad, we just need to sign the players to compliment them.

As annoying as they are, i'd like to say respect to the Spurs fans as most of them joined in the 19th minute applause.

Was just about to post the same, also from the Upper Holte looked like some good banter between the Aristocrats and the North stand.

This has driven me mad all season.  I can't remember a single game where has been any noticeable movement off the ball.  Grrrrrrrrr

It's been a real bugbear of mine for years. Pass and move seems an alien concept down Bodymoor Heath regardless of who the manager is.

you would think that the saturation coverage of teams like Barcalona and Spanish football in general would have highlighted it all the more,
i'm not saying they could be anything like as good, but look and learn.

its not difficult to move into a space and give a fellow team mate an option, same thing goes as regarding pressing, you dont have to be technicaly gifted to press the oposition when they have the ball, just organised and prepared to work hard.
if Messi the greatest player in the world can run his arse of by pressing a player to make a mistake, then it should be compulsary for our lot to try and do it

That seems such a distant memory.

In reply to Exeter 77.
