Maybe I am missing something here, but can anybody explain how this is symptomatic of our decline?

Collins and the Dunner didn't see owt wrong with getting hammered at a club get together last season and launching a genuine legend (Sid)  over a table at that health spar.    They have also been spotted at various times up the city centre smoking and drinking. Now, Collins is involved once again in an incident that creates negative headlines for the club.

Personally I've always been of the opinion that if you're a good enough player you might be able to get away with taking the piss every now and then. Collins isn't though.

I can't think of another club of our size (Everton, Tottenham etc)  where such bad behavior over an extended period of time would be tolerated. Not in todays game, where for the money they receive fitness and conditioning should be the priority. Duncan Disorderly at Everton and even God for us should really be relics from a bygone age.

It's nothing to do with suggesting players should be role models, think of the children or any other bobbins.  But it does seem to underline once more that we have a number of pisstakers on the books happy just to coast, pick up their wages and offer very little in return.  That -to me- is the concern.

Apparently out with their wives and girlfriends, cant say mine would put up with me for much longer if i acted like that on a night out with her.
How about if somebody in the club had just groped your Mrs? (Not saying that happened btw, just an example)

Yes, the logical course of action in that situation would be to try to kick in the club's doors.

Well I didn't say that, did I. Although by misquoting me, it looks like I did. 1-0 to you

How have I misquoted you, exactly?

Your argument was that we don't know what went on inside the club, maybe something caused him to be like that, and raised someone having groped his Mrs as a hypothetical situation.

My point is that regardless of whether that had happened, and regardless how angry he was, in what way does that excuse them attempting to kick the doors of the club in? It doesn't.

Maybe the groper was John Doory.

From what I saw - and it’s a bit patchy - Collins did not do anything.

Can't James Collins just go away? Is there anything good about him at all?

He puts his body on the line and is a committed defender. So yeah..

Otherwise known as having no positional sense, no distribution and a tendency to dive in. So, a committed but thoroughly flawed defender, an unprofessional human stain and a bad role model for our young players. He can go.

See what you want to see. Herd is the guy kicking off, I don't see Collins goading anyone or egging him on.

God!  Just imagine the shit Collins would be getting if it was him kicking the door in and not Herd.

As far as Collins and Delph are concerned it appears they did nothing apart from trying to stop a drunken Herd getting back in the club. Indeed it is to their credit that they were trying to stop him going back in and causing further trouble.Thats happened twice now to Delph he tried to stop Dunne and Collins verbally and physically abusing Gordon Cowans. I suppose the bouncers had to intervene because they are paid to do so.

I think Collins and Delph are totally innocent and the club should refund whatever fine they have imposed.

Herd is a disgrace and should be dropped for Sundays match. But will Lerner/Faulkner/McCleish have the guts to do it? We shall see.

If collins is innocent why has he apologised?

No doubt herd and collins should be dropped on sunday and i wouldnt mind if all 3 were sold in the summer.

He probably hasnt. The clubs PR mafia no doubt decided it looks better for the club in print that way!

Well you chose one line from my post and used it to try to make a tit of me. Ignoring my actual point, which if I wasn't clear, was that situations can escalate to that level of annoyance from something like my example. I'm not excusing it either, I'm just saying that it happens and people do things on nights out that in the cold light of day they regret.

I also suggested that it wasn't a great idea for them to be out at all.

Probably because he was told to.  If he was really smart he should have just walked off and therefore avoided this mess.  Whereas he stayed and tried to restrain Herd i.e. help a team mate.

I’m not saying he is a saint but to chastise the bloke based on what is on that video is a bit harsh in my opinion.
(As a footballer on the other hand...)

Why wouldnt he apologise?  at the end of the day he was at the scene where it happened.  Are you assuming he is guilty of something?  It would look very stupid if it was just herd who apologised and not the other 2.

It all runs in the family you know. His great grandmother Thora was the same following the Songs of Praise after show party in 1986.

I know, I know.
