Watching this compilation on YouTube and it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.

What a fucking side we were then. What a side.

I've watched that a lot this season. Thankfully we have our memories of better times to keep us going!

Probably my (very close) second favourite season watching Villa as an adult. Only beaten by 95/96 and that's largely in part because it was Brian in charge it made it all even sweeter.

Totally agree with you there, my 2 favourite seasons too. Fantastic games, fantastic kit and goal of the month contenders every month. 92/93 was my first season as a season ticket holder, and we havent finished that high up the table since. My favourite game that season was the home game against Sheffield Wednesday which we won 2-0 (i think), where we scored that fine team goal and a game we could have easily won 10-0 if it wasnt for Chris Woods who had a blinder in the Wednesday goal. I think eveyone remembers Dalians goal at Wimbledon, but my favourite goals was Deanos against Ipswich with that amazing volley which I was right behind. Great days.

If only BFR hadn't dropped Yorke for the run in,we would've been Champions.

Indeed, what a season that was.  As 'exiled' says, the 2-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday was possibly the mos complete team performance from a Villa side that I've witnessed.  Not a bad period that from 92-96.  A second place finish, a 4th place, a 5th place and two League Cups, and some brilliant European nights.  Some great players, lots of wonderful football and two of my favourite managers.

How the hell Dalian's goal against Wimbledon didn't get in the top 10 all time Premiership goals is beyond me!

I'd go further. The 90s were good for villa. Two second place finishes, regular European nights and trips to Wembley, two trophies and didn't we go something like seven /eight years without dropping out of the top 8? Between 1995-96 and 02/03?

Compared to the 70s, 80s and 90s, the new millennium has been terrible for villa!

Ahh Dalian you were brilliant when you chose to be.

And what a team goal by Yorke against Shef Weds.  Happy memories.

Easy, he didn't have a red/Spurs shirt on.

Some of the football we played that season, particularly in the few months after we signed Saunders, was outstanding.  Such a pity that Man Yoo went on that freak run from about December onwards, they were about 12th in the league when they signed Cantona.

Ah well, the good times will be back one day.

It still makes me audibly groan whenever I see either of United's goals against Wednesday in stoppage time. Heartbreaking.

Each one was like a kick in the bollocks.  I'll also never forget the feeling in the game against Oldham either.
