Should have won if we'd taken our chances but after Clattenburg had even'd up the pen count they should have had another one and we'd be down to 10 men. One point safer.

McLeish's demeanour throughout the game was strange - don't recall seeing him come out of the dugout once (frightened of fans reaction?) and looked completed deflated. Think he's been told he's offski at the end or the season.
He came out of the dugout a couple of times; once when Clattenburg ignored the savage foul on N'Zogbia. I think it was the right decision to stay put. There would have been a great chance of abuse being yelled and we didn't need a bad atmosphere for this game. I thought we were in good voice throughout the game. Pity the Albion fans chose to ignore the applause for Stan in the 19th minute. Also a pity when a couple of ours shouted 'let him die' when somebody was clearly in difficulty in the East Stand.
Good point but it could have gone either way. Bitter Geordies lost on purpose. Fingers crossed that our real targets, Blackburn and QPR can get stuffed tomorrow. Blackburn would have a job to catch us then, unless they win their others well and we lose both ours badly.

Alex sounds tired and weary. But he will keep right on to the end of the road, I'm sure.

And let's all hope that the end of the road is a long way from Villa Park.

I'm not sure how Alex could have fit too many more defenders into that line-up. We're edging there but it's not pretty. Can we draw our way to safety? The picture will be clearer this time tomorrow I guess.

Good point DC5 makes about the reason for staying in the dugout. Sad, really.

A better result than most on here were predicting so a degree of positivity on here is necessary I think.

I'm pretty chuffed with a point, to be honest.

Just back from a post-game excursion to the supermarket with the lady. I was browsing the wine shelves looking for something to numb the pain this evening when a jovial red-faced salt-of-the-earth type, wearing a vintner's apron (he was promoting some local wine on special offer) came up and said "Good evening Sir!Well, well! Having a little trouble making our choice, are we? Ho! Ho!"

Never has the word "Non!" been pronounced with such cutting contempt and evil-eye stare. The bloke actually stopped dead and walked away from me. I feel thoroughly ashamed of myself now.

My wife also announced to a bemused checkout queue that "[she] want[ed] to hit me; it's Aston Villa again".

This is all YOUR fault McLeish.

I can beat that BE, I snarled at a librarian when she asked if she should renew the books on my card.

Tomorrow I'll be cheering on Spurs... and Chelsea.

Strange times.

I wont be, if we cant stay up on our own merit we don't deserve for results to go in our favour
I will be , I dont give a flying f*ck how we stay up.

Nothing like a bit of Villa aggro!

I decided to stay in the car when we stiopped at the boulangerie. The fat ****** is a fucking Arsenal fan.

That's about the best Villa-related chuckle I've had in months.
