Whilst it seems virtually no one wants McLeish, pining after a manager who oversaw our demise from 6th spot to last years relegation battle is laughable. He managed to do this with Young and Downing in the squad, two wingers who weighed in with 15-17 goals between them and without checking i'm fairly sure they also provided the assists for Bent's goals. In the five games he missed we took eleven points, and going into the game at Arsenal we weren't safe.Have the actions of Houllier been forgotten? Liverpool away The surrender of the FA Cup? By all means moan about McLeish, but getting misty eyed over that mug is ridiculous.

Quite agree, it's another case of building somebody up now he's gone.  The Wolves loss was as bad as anything we've seen this year, and I think if we hadn't bought Darren Bent, we'd have been relegated under Houllier.

Missing the point here, I think. No-one is saying that last season was great, or that GH was definately the right man to take us forward. The point is that at least GH seemed to have an idea of what he wanted to do (we don't know if he would have succeeded in carrying out his vision). McLeish is just clueless.

How many times have Villa fans been criticised either directly or indirectly by representatives of the club this season?

A very,very good point.
Considering the shite that has been served up this season, the team has been been pretty well supported right up until now.
Infact, I would go so far as to say Tuesdays support from the crowd was the best we have heard all season, right up until up until 85 mins when it all boiled over.

What fatty is doing is exactly what the manager is doing, deflecting blame and responsibility onto the fans and others, rather than taking it on one of his chins.

The worrying thing is that they are talking about him playing tomorrow ...

I'd argue that Mcleish DOES have an idea what he wants to do - as I've said before I think the blueprint is something akin to George Graham's Arsenal.  I just don't think he's going to achieve it.

The fans consistently getting criticised. Look Dunne get out there and perform then the team will get support. On the whole the team have offered nothing this season. Forget about support for Mcleish, that ship has sailed and it's too late. We'll get behind the players if they give us anything.

You just can't get away with that style of football any more, there are just too many good passing teams with technical players these days.  Boring people to death might nab you the odd good cup run as he proved last year, but it's suicide in the Premier League.  This was demonstrated all too clearly when Swansea played at Villa Park.  With a team devoid of stars but with everybody comfortable on the ball and in keeping possession, Swansea looked head and shoulders above us in terms of quality, and McLeish had no reply to them at all.

Even if he's given money to spend in the event that his services are retained, it's just going to be maybe three or four players who might be a slight improvement on what we have now, but basically playing the same uninspiring, basic football that is McLeish's hallmark.  He's just fundamentally a bad coach.

McLeish's stlye of football makes a mockery of whats required to pass F.A. coaching badges.

He'll be gone soon.  As will the object of his affection, hopefully.

I hope not!  I enjoy a nice pie!!

Dunne's jibberish reads totally different to Warnock's interview earlier in the week which i thought was pretty good tbf. I thought Warnock was talking sense but Dunne just seems as out of touch as McLeech.

I`m afraid the time has come for the fans to have their say, we`ve coughed up, now we`re going to speak up.

What Hleb said the other week is what scared me.

Quote
"At Birmingham, the team played the long-ball game, practically bypassing midfield," Hleb told Russian website RIA Novosti.

"To get into the game you had to play up front or linger at the back with the defenders to get hold of the ball, which more often than not flew right past me.

"The day before a game he would come onto the pitch and show us what to do: 'You stand here, the goalkeeper will give you the ball here, kick it as far as you can and don't pass to anyone nearby. And we all run.'"
