Darren Bent is staying!  Confirmed in his own tweet!  Hurray!

That's hopefully because he knows the manager is gone.

That quote from King Kenny makes it for me...just exactly how bad did he think Downing was? And yet he still gave us 20 million. WTF!

                                   Siegrist
                 Lichaj           Clark          Baker

Albrighton  Gardner        Herd       Bannan      Delph

                     Weimann            Agbonlahor

That's worth paying for.

It sure is, a bunch of young and hungry kids with fire in their bellies and saving us an absolute fortune instead of using it for the likes of Ireland and N'zogbia to burn on their fires to keep their houses warm.

Splendid and also stolen. Which is rather apt considering who he plays for.

I thought I'd dust this thread off from last season because I think we need it.  Just don't read back through some of the things we were saying back then as some posts look a little silly now.

Anyway, reasons to be cheerful 2013 (I know we're not quite in 2013 yet):

No.1 - our agents in the field continue to either do good work for us (Agent Cuellar giving away a freekick then scoring an own goal 30 seconds later to help Spurs beat Sunderland) or continue to demonstrate why we were right to move them from the home guard (Agent Collins setting up Reading for their only goal yesterday).

Next...

Amazing how a week can change things- a week ago we were looking forward with hope against Chelsea , the last week has been a shocker but lets hope 2013 sees a Wembley win and that we can bring in some quality to see us safely into mid table.

Yes Eastie, things changed quickly in the space of the past week or so.  I'm hopeful things can change just as quickly in our favour in the weeks ahead.  The players are a little shell-shocked (a bit like a tennis player who has lost a tight, crucial set and then goes on to lose the next set in straight games) but I reckon they have it in them to get their heads back and play themselves into form.

I'm struggling to think of any reason to be cheerful about our plight. All I can say is that by the end of January, not too far away, we'll have a better understanding of whether we are doomed or whether there is cause for hope.
