Petrov has Leukaemia

Can only echo the sentiments of all on here. It might sound daft but when my Dad was diagnosed with leukemia we found ourselves almost celebrating the news it was a very treatable version (if that sounds right?)and wouldn't affect him too much, fingers crossed it's the same news for Stan.

We plan our life and we plan for future. Usually a long time ahead. We expect to see those plans come true. We want all the happy events future will bring . As human beings we are programmed to do that by nature. We never think about the  terrible stuff that possibly  lies ahead. All the things that could go wrong and the thing is that they do. Sometimes a devastating event hits us. Something that we did not expect. Something that we could not envisage ... This stops life in it's tracks
The news about Stan is that event.

Today we should all think about  the man himself, his wife and his two lovely children. For all of us and Aston Villa football club this is terrible news but it's his  immediate family who are affected behind belief. They must be all in terrible shock. I wish I could reach out to them and somehow reassure them. I can not I hope someone can.
Let's all reach out to them is the best possible ways we can and by showing support for Stan  in the best possible way at the match tomorrow and everyday from now until Stan is back in health again that I know HE WILL.

Good luck Stan. I am praying for you.

I know many people get sentimental when hearing such sad news but I have met Stan and his family he really is a nice guy I can see why he is Villa captain. All the best Stan were all thinking of you.

I have had loads of Blues fans sending good luck messages which just shows how football can unite at times

He was meeting the FPA to discuss players making donations to them.

I Only heard this devastating news around 6pm. For quite some time Stan has been Mr. Aston Villa for me. I can only wish him well in the trying time ahead.

That's a good point Lizz. We've naturally all concentrated on Stan, but it is easy to forget that he has a family outside of the game, and what they are going through. Best wishes to all of them.
