It would all be so much better if McLeish just f*cked off.

That's not really practical though is it?

If we sacked managers based on fans say-so, we would be going through a different manager every day.

Gabby could do with getting his finger out. Great start to the season but has fizzled out totally. Chance to wrap up victory against Blackburn and he blew it. In his mid 20's now and its time for him to start delivering consistent performances.

Re: Gabby - 'Fans negativity affects players'

I hate these type of bullshit statements! How about making a statement along the lines of "we know we've been mind blowingly shocking at times, and our gutless performances against Spurs, Liverpool, Man Utd and Man City were an embarrassment, and as professional footballers it was simply unacceptable, and for that we apologise to our fans who are the lifeblood of every football club and we totally understand their feeling of rage at the moment."

Start pulling your finger out Gabby. Bust a gut, give it everything you have cus that's what ever single one of us would do if we were blessed with enough talent to be a professional footballer. You shouldn't need a manager to be telling you how to play, you've been playing the game all your life. So just get on with it! Start earning your wages, score some goals, show some passion, win some games. Then you'll see some passion from the fans!! Otherwise just say not at all!

Gabby is as much to blame as any of the players. He's not been good enough this season, albeit playing out of position, but if he was truely a good enoguh forward we'd never have boguht Bent in the first place to dislodge him from his favoured position. He's lucky he's a fans favourite at the moment, as he's not really contributed a fat lot since November.

Fair enough. But 'players' negativity affects fans' would be equally fair.

It's becoming clear that the club are more than aware of the feeling among (some) fans right now, so we've got Agbonlahor speaking out in defence of the manager, and Petrov insisted the owner is some sort of regular spectator at training sessions, or at least attends more often than everyone realises.

It needs a bit more than this to calm concerns, however.

People need to remember we have a lot of kids in the side and of course they're going to be affected if every misatke is pounced on at home. It's obvious they prefer to play away at the moment and it has to be a factor in the dire home run

I dont know if Gabby ever visits the hallowed halls of H&V, but Gabby if you do, please be careful. Towing the line and being a media whore puppet will turn the fans against you.
I would say aprox 80% of fans would list GA as their favourite player - great to watch, loyal and truly one of us, not someone thats been brought in and taken to heart but a local lad and one of the fans. I dont know if its in his contract to have to give press releases when called upon but it doesnt fucking wash - we are not stupid. If the team are so behind the manager why are they not playing for him? If they are and are indeed giving him 100% then we are failing because his management ability is crap and the cause of why we are where we are . Thus making our negativity towards him is justified.

Another problem with public statements like this is that it will give a boost to the opposition. Martin Jol can just let his team talk be about letting the Villa fans get on the team's back, and feed off the negativity on the pitch.

It's not easy when the player who admitted a week ago that he can't wait for the season to end is now discussing fans' negativity.

Villa isn't a happy place at the moment; the club know it. So they will be leaning on the likes of Gabby - popular players - to try and put out these kind of interviews.

Best if Gabby keeps his mouth shut from now on.
