Gary Speed ;D ;D

Thought it was in pretty bad taste myself.

Gary Speed

Ahh, someone who has recently died....very funny. Twat.

Couldn't agree more with both of you on this.  Seriously, I do not know what goes through some peoples minds.

Andre Villas Boas with Ray Wilkins as his number 2

That could be an excellent management team.

Dear Mr. Andre Villas-Boas,

We are sad to hear that the high expectations of Roman Abramovich have forced you and Chelsea to part ways, particularly after such a short period of time.

However, we have an exciting offer for you! We would like to bring you to England's Second City, recently named 19th in the New York Times' top 45 places to go in 2012. Birmingham has a host of attractions to offer, including the legendary Bull Ring, a multitude of curry houses, and, of course, the pride of the city: Aston Villa.

Sure, the Villa have a manager right now, but let's face it -- he's not very good. You would look like an absolute genius after Alex McLeish. Support for you would be lavish. You want to weed out the old players and set up a new system? By all means, go for it. We've been begging for the likes of Stephen Warnock, James Collins, and Emile Heskey to just disappear. We'd not make banners demanding the return of new ways.

You love to play a 4-3-3? We're dying for something that goes beyond a 4-4-1-1. Desperate to create a system of fluid, fast-moving football? We're dying for that, too. Willing to lose? At this point, we're screaming for a loss. This would be a mutually beneficial relationship.

And let's not forget that it seems you're destined to manage Villa. C'mon -- Villas-Boas? Villa? It would be perfection.

Sincerely,

Desperate Villa Supporters

I might be in a minority of one here but I'm not that impressed with Villas-Boas. Couldn't get results with the players at his disposal and couldn't get Torres to score goals. I know there are issues with the likes of Terry/Lampard/Cole/Drogba etc owning the dressing room but 'AVB' seemed more interested in crouching in his mac and talking about 'projects'. Bit of a poser IMHO

I wonder how deep those dressing room problems were?

I've only watched Chelsea on telly a few times this season, and they've look on a number of occasions like they were playing to get their manager sacked.

They've really let things go a bit of late - too many ageing players, replacements who aren't up to scratch, owner signing players the manager doesn't know about (the Dutch kid in January), getting through managers increasingly quickly.

I hope it all goes down the pan for them, very quickly.

Barring Mourinho, I can't even see an obvious choice for them as manager now.

As much as i would love it to be Villas  Boas and Wilkins, there is no chance of this happening, we do not have the spending power, to attract that calibre of manager.

I honestly think if we survive even by goal difference....then McLeish will be our manager next season!

The only way we will get rid of McLeish is if season ticket sales are so poor that it gives the club no option but to get rid of him - so when the club phone you like they did me recently and they ask if you are renewing, then say NO because of the Manager and the poor standard of football

I'm not sure which is the funnier - the people on here who are putting Villas-Boas's name forward as McLeish's successor or the people who don't think Villas Boas would be good enough to manage us.

I'll go for Guardiola with Wenger as the kit man

Nah, dont agree. He got good things out of some of Chelsea's younger players (pertinent to us) but the old guard were arseholes to him and made his job almost impossible. He'd get the chance at Villa to stamp his authority on the squad.

Ancelotti couldn't get Torres to score goals. The fault is with the player completely losing his mojo.

Let's face it, if he didn't fail at the Chelsea job somewhat we wouldn't be talking about him as a potential Villa manager.

AVB will be a great catch for someone, I know that much. I've no love for Chelsea whatsoever but I thought the penny had dropped when they appointed him - best young coach in Europe, give him five years to put something really special in place. He got 40 matches.

I would like to say someone young and ambitious who tries to play football like Brendan Rogers or Paul Lambert but the way Randy’s going I’m guessing it’ll be Trevor Francis with Barry Fry as director of football.

re Brendan Rodgers - how much of Swansea's style is down to him, and how much the previous managers they had?

Roberto Martinez and Paulo Sousa did play decent football.

I'd say a continuation of their MO but an improvement too. He'd definitely be on my shortlist.

After his last two appointments Randy will probably go for Glenn Roeder,I'd like someone up and coming,Lambert or Michael Laudrup, but its all wishful thinking, well be having the same debate in a year.
