Another draw. McLeish staring down the barrel now. A defeat and he's a goner.

Totally disagree on that, I reckon he's safe as houses.

Yep.No real danger of relegation now.Job done as far as the board is concerned

I actually disagree on the danger of relegation thing. There are plenty of games left, yes, but look at the way our momentum is carrying us.

I also don't think he was told "just stay up and reduce the wage bill". The reason i think he's safe as houses is more to do with Randy really actually thinking he's a very good manager, and not wanting to fork out more money in compensation.

I actually think if we got relegated, he'd still keep his job.

Don't agree with your first statement simply because none of the teams below us look capable of putting a run together, and it does look like a blundering race to the bottom at the moment.

However, I sadly totally agree with the second statement.

We could go down and he would be safe, the owners have made their decision and they will stick with it through thick and thin! This is about as good as it gets!

Don't shoot me for saying this. Anyone older enough to draw comparison between Mcleish now and when Alex Fergerson first took over at united. I have been told it started badly but the board sticker by him and we all know the rest.

There is no comparison John. Sir Alex had already proved his abilities at Aberdeen.

Are you really comparing the most successful manager in the modern era with a guy who managed to finish 3rd in a 2 horse race when managing Rangers?

Belated welcome to the site Rob 92.  Noticed your location of Farnborough and lived their myself for three or so years back in the early 70's when we were promoted from the 3rd Division.   Very happy days and in many ways, wish we had never moved back.

There certainly weren't any Villa fans in my school down there, so hope there are one or two more now?.  Mainly Chelsea from my memory, but then again we are talking about 40 yrs ago.

Oh yes, pre-match thread

1-1

Gabby and then Dempsey for them in the last 15 mins.  Another point nearer safety.  Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Seems a lot of people are predicting a draw and the fact that we already have 12, I was wondering what is the record for draws in a single premier league season?

Looking at the remaining fixtures I can see a few more draws between the end of the season.

Ahem,

Most draws in a season (38 games): 17, joint record:

    Newcastle United (2003–04)
    Aston Villa (2006–07)

*sheepish looking smiley thingy.

Anyone who is looking at the fact that Fulham beat Wolves 5-0 last weekend and predicting meltdown because of that, but didn't see the match, should rest assured that Wolves were so piss poor, we too would have kept a clean sheet AND won by at least a three goal margin, even if we'd been playing them at home.

Don't think I've posted on here yet but if I had I would have said it's going to be a draw.

Yes it would be nice to get a win or two out of our next two fixtures but those fearing the following run of games are being very pessimistic. Do we really feel we can't get anymore points after these games? We face the likes of Stoke, Norwich, WBA and a stuttering Chelsea. If we can't scrape enough points then we deserve everything we get. McCeish won't be going anywhere.
