Imo we need:

GK (Joe Lewis £FREE)
2CB's (Scott Dann £4m, Lewis Dunk £1m)
RB (Clyne £300k@tribunal)
LB (Figueroa £FREE)
DM (Diame £FREE)
CM (Davis £FREE)
Wng (Elm £5m or Verhoek £FREE or Hoilett £300k@tribunal)
Str (Olic? £FREE)

£10.3m for 9 players wouldnt be bad lol. Would be fucking amazing business if completely unrealistic.

Sell:
Dunne £3m (£2.6m in wages)
Collins £3m (£2.6m in wages)
Warnock £2m (£2.3m in wages)
Petrov £1.5m (£2.8m in wages)
Ireland £3m (£3.6m in wages) - dont want to but 70k a week makes him likely to be pushed on.
Makoun £2m (£1.5m in wages)
Heskey £Free (£3.1m in wages)
Guzan £Free (£1m in wages)
Beye £Free (gone) (£2m in wages)

£14.5m (hopefully more) and £21.5m in wages saved over next 12 months.

I can dream of

-----------Given
Clyne Dann Clark Figueroa
-----------Diame
------Gardner-Elm
Marc----------------NZogbia
-----------Bent

Bench: Guz, Lichaj, Dunk, Herd, Davis, Gabby, Bannan
Squad: Weimann, Fonz, Stevens, Siegrist, Baker, Carruthers, Graham, Burke.

Other than a poor, if promising, squad the first 11 would be very good and a vast improvement on what we currently have.

The problem with that (other than Guzan leaving yet still playing for us!) is the wages.  You haven't mentioned the wages of the incoming players, but if we can hold the total that would mean £21.5m spread over 9 players, which is about £46k a week average.  That might be possible, but as Bosmans they'd be looking for top dollar and big signing on fees.

Also, the players leaving still under contract won't get the same money elsewhere, so will be looking for a pay off.  Between the 5 under contract (Dunne, Collins, Petrov, Warnock & Ireland), you'd be looking at up to £7m to see them out the door.

I wouldn't mind Dann and Hoilett from Blackburn when they get relegated.  Ashley Williams from Swansea City when we get rid of Collins, perhaps and all Wales swap?  We are deserate for midfield quality as well.  Flamini on a Bosman would be good.  I like the sound of an overhaul as it sounds like an exciting sumer ahead, the only trouble is, do I want McLeish to be the one overseeing it?  Er, no.

I can’t see us getting Hoilett, I think he could get a move to a top 4 club seems his contract is up and I think Flamini would be on massive wages so I don’t think we’ve got much chance there either. I wouldn’t mind Williams and Dann as a new central defense though.

Would love Matt Phillips (Blackpool), much better than Redmond at the Dog Shit.

Wouldn't say no to Scott Sinclair at Swansea.

Although I doubt we'll be able to afford them if we're shopping in the bargain basement.

I’d let Ireland, Hutton, Warnock and Makoun all leave in the summer. Heskey will be gone as well.

I’d keep Petrov for one more season to help out the younger midfielders coming in but use him more sparingly and I’d keep N’Zogbia, he’s a good player and it just about getting it out of him on a regular basis.

Meant to say keep Guzan but sign Lewis if he does leave, ideally i'd like him to stay.

I dont know the wages of the incoming players but I could guess...where as there is a pretty good idea of what most of our outgoings are actually on Its a staggering amount and I think we'll be surprised at the wages we could get players on if we actually tried. (Up until his new contract Beye was on more per week than Bale) :'(

Arsenal have agreed to sign Lukas Podolski for £10.9 mill, what a signing that will be.  Would have been a more than useful Emile replacement.

And therein lies an issue for us.

Even if we get a batch of new players on lower contracts, any success we have with them will need to be reflected in the improved contracts they will ask for.

Possibly although if the figures indicated are true it would indicate a change in philiosophy at Arseanl. Firstly Podolski is a proven international rather than an up and comer, and secondly if he is going to be on £100,000 a week that I think would be outside their standard wage structure. So potentially they might offer RVP a lot more.

I like the sound of the clear out but my fear is that we will only replace what we have got rid of and then we still have a waffer thin squad.  We cant rely on a bench full of our younsgters / reserve team players.  we need experienced players especially if we have another bout of injuries.

"I do have to stamp my own personality on the team.I've not been able to do that."
The seventeen most frightening words I have ever read in the history of football ever.

Talking to my Blues mate about this. Apparently McLeish was saying the same thing right up to his last season there.

I think that RVP might stay there after all,Wenger is rebuilding a decent side there at the moment.

We need to hit the ground running this summer transfer wise, moving people on speedily to make space for those coming in. A couple of youngish players that will excite the crowd would be my biggest hope. Phillips is in that ilk.

An attacking winger who is worth looking at is Gabriel Torje at Udinese, but they probably wouldn't sell.

The problem again is who can we move on? I'd LOVE to see Dunne go but really no-one is gonna pay him anywhere near what we do.

My list would be

Brad Jnr - like him but he's not gonna get the chance to step up here unfortunately
Heskey - obv.
Warnock,Dunne - These two will have to be prised from the dressing room by their fingertips so i'm not hopeful
Petrov.- too old
Fonz - not gonna make the grade

Sadly i'd also consider letting Bent go IF we got a mental offer and were given the full money to spend. He's the only asset we have thats likely to generate any funds for rebuilding and its looks like we're gonna need it.
