We have basically spent £20 million net. That is pretty decent backing from the board in fairness, and Lambert has spent it how he has chosen too. In 2-3 years we could be looking back and saying how well it was spent, considering how many players we have managed to get. Vlaar, Karim, Lowton all look very well priced, Westwood comes very highly rated for 2 million and Benteke looks a real handful, and will only improve. Very good window IMO and almost certainly got the ability to spend in January if need be.

Everyone is forgetting the wages.  £20m plus better than championship wages.  That was the key driver this summer, radical reduction of wage bills.  Hence the policy to humiliate Warnock and Hutton into leaving which hasn't worked.

Overall I'd say I'm reasonably happy with the business we've done.  The only sticking point I can see is that we haven't brought in a proper holding midfielder.  I imagine that PL doesn't think he needs a specialist midfielder for that position though and that the whole team will pressure the ball and attack.  Certainly makes things more interesting, not so much for the weekend but after the international break.

I agree and felt that we were sorely missing that kind of player against Everton.  I'm happy with the players that PL has brought in, but do feel that we are missing an experienced player in that area.

Just checked Blackpool FC website and its on there, they have taken the Fonz on loan
